I think Thane's is the better helmet due to the gems. But I'm not sure. Would like to hear some more visions on it.

The meta will add almost 500 armor so a non-meta helm is almost always going to be inferior.
The fact that The Great Wyrm has a lot of Block rating makes it less useful for Progression encounters. Thane's is definitely better than Wyrm
Is it better that the tempered Titansteel helm (come the patch?) you lose 44 parry and 39 block but pick up about 50 stam and 12 defense

Helm of vital expertise = extra threat and less parry hasted deaths

great wyrm decent for tanking heroics/ making a loltheb can't hurt me set.
So last night Platehelm of the Great Wyrm dropped. I picked it up because I was really the only person that made sense to take it, but after equipping it I was very disappointed. Compared to Tempered Titansteel Helm I lose ~700 HP and don't gain a whole lot.
I'm guessing I will use Great Wyrm for trash with all of its strength and then throw the crafted on for boss fights. What a huge disappointment though that the crafted helm will be superior to the second to last boss in heroic naxx...
I use Thane's helm for avoidance fights (patchwerk/Sapph) and T7 helm for trash. Thane's helm is definately best for any bosses you are having a hard time on (tank hp/dieing problems)
