Prot Warrior in Need of Help

Well I basically need any advice possible to help me get up to pre-kara level. I have read the gear lists and guides but still need some individual attention until my tank in the making is ready to run kara. Anything will be helpful and any advice will definately be appreciated. Nothing is offlimits. Also if anyone has a talent tree that would work better preferably protection as i am about to repec for raids, tell me as well. obviously i just made it to 70 a while ago. My main worry is the stamina and hitpoints, i may be wrong and have bigger problems.

I have bought Cloak of eternity. and ornate khorium rifle they just arent equipped so that should help.

i just posted similar question on another forum. i just got to 70 yesterday and need to get geared for heroics and Kara. I would also like to know how/where to get the gear. seemed easy to gear pre 70 but now seems more difficult...

First thing you'll want to do is to run Shadow lab for the Sha'tari Wrought Armguards - Item - World of Warcraft and hopefully Shoulderguards of the Bold - Item - World of Warcraft

then do this quest Dealing with the Overmaster - Quest - World of Warcraft for the Wind Trader's Band - Item - World of Warcraft

You might want to run mana tombs for the Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves - Item - World of Warcraft (Obtained through the escort quest)

and for a great trinket do this quest chain Recipe for Destruction - Quest - World of Warcraft which gives Dabiri's Enigma - Item - World of Warcraft

for an aggro ranged weapon u might want to do MgT for this Nightstrike - Item - World of Warcraft

You might as well want to work on ur shattered sun offensive for the awesome shield and the neck

And you might want to change some of your gems :)

Do what Kral said above. In addition:

- Get Khorium Destroyer crafted or buy from AH (massive stam in gun slot)
- If Aldor, buy Vindicator's Hauberk
- Grind KoT rep and buy Timewarden's Leggings
- Run Arcatraz until you get Elementium Band of the Sentry
- Do questline in Shadowmoon Valley that gives you another tank ring
- Run Steamvaults until you get Devilshark (I know you have CoE, which is great, but you'll want to have Devilshark at some point anyway)
- Consider buying/acquiring the darkmoon cards and making one or both of the Darkmoon Card decks that give +51 stamina.

Put +9 or +12 stam gems in all slots. Get the armor kits that give you +10 stam and put them on anything (no sense wasting money on chants yet), with the exception of the KoT glyph and Aldor/Scryers glyph.

Allright sounds good. tankpost reall is the best around in getting help. about the gems i used a guild bank to quickly socket stuff and am now going back and putting in the +12 Star of elune gems. As for the shadow labs im currently running it for a couple drops but no luck so far. kral and daniel thanks for the help!

I'm still looking for a decent prot warrior talent tree if anyone has one. post a link or some way of showing it. im working on the rep rewards but im about to repec if any one is able to help with that, not quite sure on the fine points in respeccing for tanking. once again thanks

There's some talent trees on this site that will give you some good ideas. Discussion of talent trees is almost a theological or religious discussion: everyone thinks theirs is "the best." It really comes down to what kind of tanking are you doing and what are your strengths and weaknesses as a player and as a character.

Most prot builds (most, not all) call for 5/5 Deflection and 3/3 Imp Thunder Clap (from Arms) and 5/5 Cruelty (from Fury). From there, you can pour everything into various talents in the Prot tree (max mitigation build), take a few more in Arms (threat build, like Imp Heroic Strike), or take a few in Fury (Imp Demo Shout, for raid viability).

I can go on from there, as can many others here, but it comes down to what you want. If you're looking to break into Kara, I would try a max mitigation build for a bit and see hwo you like it. That's basically 8/5/48 such as Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft I personally don't like Imp Def Stance but it has its uses, especially when breaking into heroics and Kara. And Imp Shield Wall in the content I do (5 and 10's) never seemd worth the points. I'd rather have Imp Heroic Strike (for threat) and Imp Bloodrage (more rage faster on a pull to move things along). I happen to like Imp Taunt for that content but some ppl feel it's wasted points. Imp Disarm, Imp Revenge, and Imp Shield Bash are basically useless (you can't disarm the targets you wish you could, you can't stun the targets you wish you could and it's random anyway, and you can't silence the targets you wish you could). You're not stance dancing except in certain fights (Nightbane) so TM isn't that useful. Last Stand is your "Oh Shit" button.

Very nice that is actually what i was looking for, a nice tree with an explanation of the choices. thanks for spending the time to post it and that is most likely the tree i will be using since it covers all the bases i need. thanks again for all the posts it really has helped to gear my tank and get him ready to go.
