Very nice. I've been looking for something like this.

I'd like to suggest you add a link to this on the EH calculator's page to make it simpler to find.

It'd be nice to have the tier rating incorporated into the calculator itself as well. It's an awesome resource.

This is rather confusing...I basically ball parked my stats, around 21k health and 17k armor fully buffed giving me 57844.67 Effective Health.

So your telling me that a tank just entering SSC 3/6 already has enough EH to Clear Hyjal and BT? Not sure what my fully buffed avoidance but its 42% unbuffed as of now. I really dont feel like getting laughed at by my fellow tanks when they see me with Dodge Gems.

And if I was to start gearing more towards avoidance which gems? Defense seems to scale slow, Parry can trigger enemy parries, so just dodge?

And I my guild is progressing quite fast, through SSC. I never quite understood the concept of why stacking health is so much better on quick progression when you guys are currently stating that I should have more avoidance to maxamize survival, doesn't seem like my healers have problems keeping me up.

You're misreading the concept of EH.

Stacking EH during progression fights are for when your tanks, healers, and potentially the WHOLE raid, is undergeared for the fight you are going up against. EH stacking in this scenario guys your raid and healers time to learn fights, keep you up, and down bosses that otherwise wouldn't have been attemptable. Currently if you're guild is in SSC, and has been there for a while now, and your entire guild has been collecting Badges of Justice and has gear from that. They already overgear the place. It's part of why YOU yourself are overgeared for the zone. Should you resocket? Probably not, this is costly, instead, find peices of avoidance gear, that are good, socket THOSE with avoidance gems (defense or dodge, since defense is only a slight smidge below dodge in terms of avoidance gained), and swap it in and out of your standard set as you need.

With all do respect if stacking stam has been working with undergeared healers, why waste resources to change it just because they are now geared? Does it really increase your life span THAT much?

Yep. I've cleared MH/BT and 3/6 Sunwell with ~57,500 EH (with over 75% avoidance) and with little problem, you're good to go. :P

In Sunwell Plateau, enemies have a hidden buff of +5%hit and -20% attacks to be dodged. According to the above table, we'll have an avoidance of 35% effectively. Should I stack more avoidance? even at the expense of EH?

Pls advise, Thks.

Its harsh when gear is not dropping for the MT though, namely me :-(.

and your right adjusting your gems to experiment to raise your avoidance is expensive

Ok so I forgot to take the +5% with the 6% from defense (I think thats right)

So I already have enough avoidance (rougly 50%) But my EH is still skyrocketing past these apparent miniums. But at the same time I'm already soft capped on Expertise, so should I stack hit or something now for my boss tanking set? 58 hit rating seems like a decent number with the gear I have access to right now.

Still confused and skeptical...The World of Warcraft Armory (sig doesn't update)

regardless I'm going to talk with my guilds Healing Coordinator.

Ok heres the math for me:

Unbuffed:
Health- 15,814
Armor- 16,999
SBV- 564
--------------
Miss- 5.88%
Dodge- 17.54%
Parry 17.15%
Base Miss Rate of Most NPC's- 5.00%
Total Avoidance = 45.57%
---------------
Effective Health = 44,057.28

-This means Unbuffed I am minimally up to par for:
5.0 _______ 43,200 45% Zul'aman, Tempest Keep, Serpentshrine before Morogrim, Vashj, Karathress.

Buffed:
Flask of Fortification
Priest Fort
Pally Kings
Druid Gift of the Wild
+30 stam food
Commanding Shout
Devotion Aura
------------------
Health- 20,274
Armor- 17,524
SBV- 564
--------------
Miss- 6.04%
Dodge- 18.79&
Parry- 17.31%
Base Miss Rate of Most NPC's- 5.00%
Total Avoidance = 48.62%
---------------
Effective Health = 57,078.00

-This means that Buffed I am minimally up to par for:
6.0 _______ 54,300 *55%* Mount Hyjal, Black Temple before Illidan.

*I would need to rasie my avoidance by 6.38%. Wich I belive I can with a few swap outs and still remain well above the 54,300 EH Benchmark.

If this is correct Im ready to tank anything but Illidan and Sunwell.

Right now I am MT for almost all fights and we have Kara/Gruul/Lurker on Farm. And have kills on Mag/Hydross/Void Reaver. We are focusing on SSC this month and just attempted Leo last night 80%. Lots of learning to be done.

I guess im in the catagory for the content im tanking to be getting more avoidance peices, yes?

Mabye I should start looking at the Teir Peices as avoidance sets?
The only ones I have are T4 Helm and T4 Shoulders but I use them as my main EH peices.
