| | | Protection Warrior AOE Grinding Video
The gear is a mix of current Burning Crusade tanking gear on a level 71 Warrior. While not as fast as a Paladin currently can clear this (which it may be once Damage Shield is fixed), it represents an enormous playstyle shift for Protection Warriors.

I believe he used Enraged Regeneration as well as Spyglass of the Hidden Fleet, which brought him from ~40% to full health. Sexy.
I hope there are some good places to do this kind of grinding in Northrend - this area by BT is one of the better and relatively few places I can think of in Outlands for this work.
Argh, Blizzard is working hard to keep people from thinking too much about Warhammer... hehe

This is the best news I have heard in a long time, I leveled as prot and hope to do it again, this looks like our class is finally getting some love.
Thanks for posting the video Ciderhelm, it gives us guys who cant get acees to the beta a really good chance to see what we are going to get to play with in the near future

Can you clarify what procs Damage Shield exactly? The tooltip makes it sounds like it would be any attack that isn't a miss, dodge, or parry. To me, it really only makes sense if it was only full or partial blocks. I suppose at high enough levels of gear it won't matter anyway, since most attacks will be dodged, parried, or blocked. But right now it just seems like ret aura, except way better.

Looks like Figurine of the Colossus + Spyglass for health Regen
Then Cleave, Thunderclap, Shield Slam, Shockwave for damage +
Recklessness and Shockwave + Retailiation + Shield Wall

What will be the new rotations for grinding mobs solo, and Rotations when Tanking. Also What will be the downsides of these abilities when grouped with others. Can some1 give more details plz, thanks

The thing I noticed was how fast it was. Alot of us have done this same thing with the existing tools and essentially, its round em up, back to a wall and eat a sammich.
The thing is, they die alot faster in the video....more damage output = more threat. When its tuned and damage shield is thrown into the mix......yikes. I had intended to grind out a level or so doing this when everyone else is in Northrend.....this reinforced that strategy some.
For reference: The length of the video is a minute less than this one I made....I had at least a third fewer mobs and had every gimmick working for me (Sporegarr shield with Felsteel spike) protfarming1.wmv - FileFront.com |

I'm trying to figure out what you hit at ~1:30 that has 1000 showing up on what looks like every mob you're up against. Looks like you hit the 3rd from the left on your action bar, but I'm not in beta and don't recognize the icon.
Halp?

Shockwave's cone is wider than I had thought from the complaints. Fun video. I look forward to seeing version 2 when Damage Shield is working. ;>

Oh, and Optimoos: That was shockwave at that point in time. Notice how everybody's stunned afterwards.

What will be the new rotations for grinding mobs solo, and Rotations when Tanking. Also What will be the downsides of these abilities when grouped with others. Can some1 give more details plz, thanks | Downsides? Only downside I can think of is the increased likelihood of bruised egos when you start getting more and more killing blows, preventing your rogue buddies from finishing a mob with those 5 combo points they worked so hard to build up. You went and Shield Slammed the mob's face in before the poor rogue could get a big juicy Eviscerate off.
Ya big jerk.
Depending on what the threat numbers are for Shield Slam, Revenge, and Devestate at lvl 80, there's a possibility that we'll simply drop Revenge from the rotation because Devestate's S&B proc rate results in more threat over time. The new rotation could conceivably be just Shield Slam and Devestate. On the other hand, if Revenge still maintains it's relative amount of threat (or in low rage situations), the major change to the rotation would just be to hit Revenge and Shield Slam every time they're up, and fill in with Devestate.
The days of rolling 3211321132113211 on a single mob over and over are over. Now we have to interact with our rotation a little more to adjust to S&B procs. This is a good thing; it breaks up the monotony.
But on that note, I think we'll all be looking forward to the lvl 80 theorycrafting and revised threat numbers of our abilities. Until then, best thing you could probably do is just play around with it and enjoy!

That is the best looking thing I have seen in a long time. I would love to know a little bit more about the abilities being used. Is that sort of healing easily doable or does it require the right trinkets in order to do so?
Either way, I don't really care. That video was nothing short of amazing. Was it sped up at all though?

It requires trinkets. [item]Figurine of the Colossus[/item] and [item]Spyglass of the Hidden Fleet[/item], in this case.
