Kin though we are, should one of your good selves
cross the line, stray from those darkened,
end-stopped ginnels and ways, step from the switchbacks
into our lamp-lit lanes, our metalled streets
with their sleeping policemen and cats' eyes,
with their blue plaques and Neighbourhood Watch signs,
then an unwritten rule comes into play.
Kith though we are, we point to our titles
and deeds, and the right is reserved to bring

Re-posted from a vegetarian/vegan forum with permission:
My husband Matt had his first ever ridiculous vegan conversation at work yesterday and I had to share. I laughed pretty hard.
Guy: So you're a vegan?
Matt: Yes.
Guy: What if you were in the woods and you saw a deer? Wouldn't you kill it and eat it?
Matt: No... no, I would not kill the deer and eat it.
Guy: But what if it was like... a really big deer?

... and fell into a guild?
This evening went:
- log on to do my dailies
- get accosted by a prot paladin in Dalaran asking if I wanted to join a "raiding guild".
- conversation ensues in which it transpires that I'd be the only warrior tank which means a monopoly on shiny things. Am skeptical but decide to join figuring I have nothing to lose.
- somehow I agree to off-tank Naxx10 next Saturday despite never having completed a heroic

1. Russian orals were running early and I finished before I was even due to start, as it were.
2. Got asked to do the presentation I was most confident on.
3. Found out my local supermarket sells soy spread now.
4. Discovered white chocolate Kinder Bueno.
5. Got home to find a letter from my university telling me I have a conditional place for an MA.
6. Later tonight am off to the Armenian tavern with the Russian Studies crew for food and bilingual banter.

I've sort of got to one of those points where I wonder if I'm just really over-sensitive to certain topics.
Monday I had a careers consultation and the first leaflet thrown at me was for teaching. Also a guy in the supermarket thought it was totally okay to grope me. Great.
Tuesday a politics lecturer passed me up for group leadership for the twelfth - and now last - seminar of the semester. We're a group of ten.
Wednesday I read this shit: http://www.tankspot.com/forums/blogs/rial-v/2293-raiding-lingo-21st-century.html...
