RNG and Threat

Is anyone else concerned about how inconsistent our threat generation is going to be in Wrath?

Critical strikes are going to play a much bigger part of our threat gen thanks to some new talents. I guess this is part of what Blizzard meant by making tanking more "fun", everyone loves to see bigger numbers afterall.

We're getting Sword and Board, a random chance to trade in a devastate or revenge for a free shield slam basically. I know Cider loves it, but I forsee it really hurting how we are compared to other tanks.

Look at all the talents we have available that improve Shield Slam. Sword and Board is going to be an absolute must have because of all the SS synergy we have access to (Critical Block, Shield Mastery, Weapon Spec, Imp. Shield Bash, possibly Impale). All this is going to mean we will have the potential for huge amounts of burst threat, and on the flip side periods of mediocre output.

Call me crazy, but I happen to think that consistent threat generation is a good thing, especially on progression fights where everyone is pushing their class to it's limit. I really don't like the idea of having to tell my raid that we couldn't beat an enrage timer because I had a 2 minute Sword and Board drought, and I wouldn't blame a raid leader if he didn't want to hear that either. (Okay, 2 minutes is pretty extreme, but you get the idea).

I don't mind that Blizzard wants to buff the bejesus out of Shield Slam, just please don't make it so random!
