What should you pull?

Let's say there's 3 targets, 1 to-be-CC-ed target (moon) 1 target to go down first(skull), 1 target to go down 2nd(cross).

Should you shoot the Skull, Cross or Moon?

At the moment I always shoot the cross and then quickly switch to the skull, this way I've already made some threat on the cross and it won't instantly switch to another target when they make a move which generates threat on it.

But I was thinking, maybe it should be good to shoot the moon? This way if it gets out of sheep you will already have some threat on it and it won't aggro the mage but you instead.

I've still to make up my mind about it.

I always shoot the cross...bloodrage and then put some kind of move on it, depending on rage (SS or Dev). Then I switch to the skull and start generating threat. I keep thunderclap on cooldown, and cleave instead of heroic strike. I find that the "cross" very very rarely will get away.

I shoot Cross, Bloodrage, Concussion Blow on Skull as early as possible, some Devastates or Shield Slam on Cross and back to Skull.

Don't think it really matters that much. If needed you can always go near the sheep and demo shout it if that puts your mind at ease, but your mage should just be ready to abort whatever he's doing to resheep.

Have faith in your CC

What he said...

Oh, and I always shoot skull first, X naturally comes to me, and when he does, I nail him a few times, and then proceed on the normal tab, devastate, tab, shield slam, tab, revenge, tab, devastate, tab, shield slam, etc, etc.

Exactly.

If people ask me to tank something, they don't have to make up a backup plan on what to do if I don't tank it. They trust I will tank it.

Likewise, if I ask someone to keep something sheeped/trapped, it's his job to do so, I don't have to make up because he's too lazy to re-apply a spell.

Mmm, depends how you tank. Generally I never shoot anything, more a fan of

Berz Stance, BR
Battle Stance, Charge
Defensive Stance, Shield Slam skull, Devastate Cross and con't a norm threat rotation with a dev on cross now and then til skull's dead.

If you're that worried about sheep threat though, you can choose not to CC, or you can target it quick, conc blow and dev, go back to whatever else you were doing.

I don't ever think about it. My gun does like, I don't know 150 damage? Not important. I just shoot whichever is closest basically. Most pulls I charge anyway.

Either way works pull skull bloodrage > shield slam target x sunder + hs go back to skull and cleave spam or pull x bloodrage > shield slam/sunder x then cleave spam on skull alot of tanking is targeting imo if you can't target mobs you won't be able to multi target tank. A fun exercise to do is go into a lowbie instance (I was helpin a guildie out in zf) and pull like 6-10 mobs and see if you can get just one sunder on every single one helps you target and break the "tab addiction". Have your enemy health bars up and click them it works 10x better than tab try it!

I shoot x, or whatever mob is closest. Since server lag will send that mob first, then the rest of the group will be 1/2 second behind, I'll get a little "alone time" with whatever mob I shoot.

A lot of you say you're charging in instead of shooting. Kindof puzzling really, does it depend on group makeup? I usually never charge if there's melee/hunters in the group, because frankly, their situational awareness sucks, and they always seem to pull the next group. if it's an all caster group, I charge a little more, but usually I shoot and pull back every pull, even if there's room, just to be consistant.

I see the upside to charging in though, lots of rage to dump in opening abilities before switching back to def stance, charge>tc>SS>def stance> etc. Also, when shooting, impatient dps HAS to wait, which of course they never do.

Easy enough, Shoot Skull w/my rocket launcher(available most of the time, if not, then regular shot will do. 1st move is Conc blow on the skull, then go to town on X for a few seconds, then taunt on skull once conc blow wears off, and wham, you have 2 targets that will not get off you.

Of course you have to adjust this if skull isn't going to die very quickly and you need to put on some more love on X to keep him there after 10-12 seconds.
