Warrior to Pally switch... opinions?

I love warrior, but looking at our 10 man optimal raid setup the discussion has emerged of whether or not I should level up a prot pally. The buffs would be handy for sure since we will be healing with resto shammy holy priest and resto drood if a 3rd healer is needed. With no salvation in the xpac the switch is a lot less desireable, but kings could be potentially huge with the scaling of gear stats.
I have never really considered tankadin before, but wanted to know the communities opinion given the specific circumstances of the raid setup. It will most likely not change up often if at all.

Both classes will require you to be very good at the class in order to be effective. I think you should stick with your Warrior because you have the most experience with your Warrior and that's going to matter more than your class.

If you have a level 70 prot paladin before the expansion arrives, you might as well try both and see which one works better for you. However I wouldn't suggest that if you simply like playing a warrior better. If you have no favorite, then a good question is which of them creates the most diversity in your 25-man roster from day-to-day.

Do what you enjoy. There's no harm in leveling up a Pally anyway just to see if you like it, but if you aren't particularly interested in the class then I'd say just stick with your warrior.

Try the paladin and solo-tank it. Lots of fun indeed.

I'm doing the same but trying to level Druid (33) and Paladin (39). I'm having fun with both and it's fun to experience the differences. I say go with your 1st love but know and have others available so you can use them when the time comes..

I'm horrible to my pally tank. She collects a lot of dust, simply because it took a long time and a lot of work to gear my warrior, and doing that all over again with a pally isn't as fun as just grabbing the warrior and going.

The playstyle is very different as well, Warriors are and have to be very proactive in cc-light 5 man pulls, something Paladins can litterally do afk. Raid tanking and stressful situations would probably be similar with both, but for 5mans and heroics, where I spend most my time these days, warrior is just more fun.

You want to turn your immortal warrior into a pot chugger??? No! Don't go into the light! Seriously, the one saving grace of being a warrior is no one will every ask you to put on your other gear and heal!

Based on all the changes coming down the pipe, you have a brand new toon to learn how to play anyways (your warrior).

It would seem that the uber'ness of pally multi-mob tanking is being given in a lesser form to warriors anyways so the reason to have one is potentially going away.

If you ENJOY your warrior, don't let others sway you from it.

I've had a 70 warrior for a long time and with my schedule was doing mostly 5 mans and kara so I decided to try a pally too. Different playstyles, I find both fun, but there are a number of things that my warrior can do that I miss having on my pally. The same thing goes the other way around too, alts are free outside of your time, so if you are bored might as well try it out.

What one of the above posters said is true though, I really don't like being asked to put on healing gear on some bosses and letting the warrior tank. I know the pally can do just as well but the arguement is always that our healing is more helpful than a prot warrior's dps.

Trying this thanks. Lore I noticed you were also on the maintankadin site. Any places on there you can point me to?

Thanks for all the comments. I do love warrior, but I know that doesn't mean I will hate pally. However we will not have any pallies in our raid setup currently for LK and kings/might/wisdom and now sanctuary may be more beneficial then a commanding/battle shout.

As far as strapping on healing gear... I ran a priest for vanilla wow and took over tanking when our tanks were having issues logging in on time. I then realized that is what I had been missing from wow. So healing when needed is still just fine with me. However since we are rolling 10 mans only (to my knowledge now) for LK it will be either our drood tanking or me no matter what I roll.

Just to throw my opinion in - I love my warrior to death, it was the first class I played and the class I always go back to when I'm bored of whatever toon I've finished levelling and gearing. That being said, overgearing 5-mans sucks, and I dealt with it for a long time but finally decided to get a pally to 70 to see what this whole AOE tanking thing was about. Now, I tank raids on my warrior, and do heroics/kara on my pally, I feel like I've got the best of both worlds, and love both of the classes.

When wrath comes, the warrior will go to 80 first though
