Unless the raid clearly out gears him with a proper rotation he shouldnt have a problem. Personally I would have him change his spec abit also.

Drop Improved Revenge and drop Improved shield bash. Both worthless imo as a raid tank. Good for 5 mans where you can actually stone crap and silence. Have him pick up improved heroic strike and focused rage. I would drop tactical mastery aslo and pick up improved thunderclap. Aside from that have him try the rotation of

Shield Slam,Revenge,Dev,Dev ... rinse and repeat tossing in shield block and heoric strike in when he has the rage. Also make sure he isnt dumping rage to heroic strike if he cant sustain the current rotation. Heroic strike is a perk on top of the normal rotation.

Did he recently switch roles/classes? If so (and even if not,) send him here.

Every tank can improve themselves. There is a wealth of information and discussion on tanking here.

You are sure his reaction was not sacarsm to a healing class questioning his capabilities?

Bear in mind that a tank needs to do 2 things in their rotations :

1) increase survivability
2) build threat

For fights like prince where survivability is more important, your tank will need to thunder clap and demo shout every 30 seconds. This is when his tps will definitely take a dip for the 3-5 seconds to apply them. A hunter should be popping scorpid sting + MD every time you can to help the raid. Scorpid sting is one of the most underestimated skill in the game.

Another way to make certain he go in with high threat is to farm mighty rage potions for him. Remember paladins go in at full mana, wars go in with zilch.

If you deem the above as too troublesome, you need to be a better raider as much as he does.

How does not wanting to farm mats for another member of the raid make him a Bad raider? That's just wrong. The DPS and healers have just as many useful consumables they need to be carrying around as us tanks do. Any Tank that thinks the other members of their raid should be farming the stuff for them that they need to do their jobs is failing their raid.

It is the OP's job to make sure he has the pots and other consumables he needs to do his job. It is his job to keep up Mark and Scorpid Sting if he's the only hunter and MD the Tank as appropriate. It is not his job to get Mighty Rage pots for the tank.

The Tank CHOOSE to be a tank. As such you accept the limitations your role puts on you. It is quite possible these days for any of the Tanks to do dailies to procure the gold needed to get anything that would help them raid, even if it takes a little longer.

His gear is fairly decent for Kara, but some of his gemming could use some work. His main issue is his talents.
  • He has imp sunder but not focused rage, which would have the same effect on devastate but also on his other abilities.
  • Imp revenge and imp shield bash is completely wasted on a raiding tank.
  • Cruelty sounds good but there is very little difference between an 11% and a 6% crit rate for so many precious points.
  • After the initial pickup, heroic strike will be his best ability for sustained TPS. Since it's not on the global CD, it should be spammed as long as he has enough rage for his shield block/revenge/devastate/shield slam rotation. Imp heroic strike + focused rage can reduce it to a 9 rage ability.

well its not an issue anymore, I quit last week.

He displayed a complete lack of knowledge about my class and my abilities, and asked me to do things with my class and abilities that are in detrement to the raid. he also demonstrated a non-willingness to listen and take correction from raiders with more experience than he, and it cost us no less than 2 wipes the night it happened. I refuse to waste my time and resources on someone who wants to casually raid-wipe.
