Another way to make certain he go in with high threat is to farm mighty rage potions for him. Remember paladins go in at full mana, wars go in with zilch.

How does not wanting to farm mats for another member of the raid make him a Bad raider? That's just wrong. The DPS and healers have just as many useful consumables they need to be carrying around as us tanks do. Any Tank that thinks the other members of their raid should be farming the stuff for them that they need to do their jobs is failing their raid.
It is the OP's job to make sure he has the pots and other consumables he needs to do his job. It is his job to keep up Mark and Scorpid Sting if he's the only hunter and MD the Tank as appropriate. It is not his job to get Mighty Rage pots for the tank.
The Tank CHOOSE to be a tank. As such you accept the limitations your role puts on you. It is quite possible these days for any of the Tanks to do dailies to procure the gold needed to get anything that would help them raid, even if it takes a little longer.
