I dare say... this could become baseline cause it might streamline builds more than Blizz is happy with... we all know what they did when everyone in PvP was using Deathwish/MS spec.

No 5% dodge or 10% armor? Tanking is first and foremost about surviving.

The more and more I see about WotLK the more and more I get discouraged. I absolutely HATE skill micromanagement and everything about WotLK screams it.

Wait until the build that addresses Prot Warriors. I doubt Justified Killing will be a part of it.

Ya the guy that cooked this up must not have been a prot warrior, you'd have to be crazy to tank without toughness and anticipation.

I figured out a non-shockwave or S&B build that looks similar, but I'll wait till we get the final builds :P

Yeah atm we're sacrificing a lot of core talents to get points in JK and impale.

Any tanking spec including Deep Wounds is immediately incorrect.

Starting with your arms build, I'd spend my prot points like this:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

There are a few debatable pros and cons, but I could live with a spec like this if I had to.

but...but....yeah, you're probably right but I'd like to see that + Incite (w/ cruelty) That's a fair amount of crit on core skills and constantly having a DoT up is nice.....

Still, there are surely better options.

I'm a control freak and a dot I can't control just annoys me, i'd never spec it as it stands currently.

Well the whole thing is little more than a mental excersize until the final talents are available on launch (or close to it). Still, it's a fun game to play IMO.

think of it though. if the dot can roll the way it does with fury. and you can get say.. a 1-1.5k rolling dot from chain crits while in defensive stance... that's like 1200*1.45 modifier = lots of threat per 2 seconds? :X

Premature to commit to any build, but based off the information regarding rescaling of shield block value, the damage based rage from shield slam looks more than adequate to keep tanks a tankin'.

If you put up a build I would suggest mentioning what its use is going to be. At first It looked like a 5 man/threat build but then I saw 2 points in Shield Wall.

I won't worry about min/max survivability at first because I don't believe you will need that until 80.

My current 5 man/leveling build could look something like this.

This is centered around getting Shockwave, I've also put the extra points into Toughness for the reduction of movement impairing which may be helpful during questing/5 mans as well as Tactical Mastery for more utility during questing. I have also made sure I use all damage increasing talents in the Protection tree.

I don't think Justified Killing is worth going that far in the Arms tree for some extra rage, especially considering that dodge gives you more bang for your buck avoidance wise in comparison to Parry which can be hard to gear for.

Hmm... speaking of Deep Wounds, if you crit with a Shield Slam, what base damage is used for DW calcs, the SS damage or the mainhand damage? Also... the DoT rolls?!
