Demo shout for AoE tanking warriors

I was thinking about how we could help improve warriors AoE threat. I then recalled one instance (before Blizzard nerfed it) where warriors could AoE tank huge numbers of mobs - Nefarion trash waves with Battle Shout spam!.

I recall the Nerf being that the threat generated would be split amongst all the mobs it affected rather than affecting each one equally.

Maybe they could revisit Demoralising Shout and have it affect all mobs equally and tinker with its threat value (maybe also having Imp. demo shout affect its threat value as well), with TC and Shockwave this would give warriors 3 AoE threat generating abilities, whilst the increased threat wouldn't be detrimental to DPS warriors in a raid environment if they were required to be the demo shout bitch. The best thing about demo shout as well is that it affects any target in range. I see this as an entirely viable change, which would make warriors better AoE tanks, but not to the extent that we would supplant paladins as the premier AoE tanks. This change would also benefit Feral's and help them with AoE tanking on more than 3+ mobs as well.

At the moment in beta, aoe tanking isn't really the major concern of prot warriors. With the huge increase in dmg of tclap(500 non-crit dmg per mob, talented), That, along with our aoe rend ability, gives us some really good aoe tanking abilities.

Demo shout doing good aoe threat would be great, spamming bshout during nefarion always felt wrong, though the aggro was fantastic! I am hoping they do that, 'polish pass' soon so we see more clearly how things will pan out for our journey to the lich king.

At the time, the rationale for nerfing it was pretty sound, I guess. I was the BS ho and stood in the middle of the room. I put 4 huntards in my group all with thier pets out and the drakonids were on me like a fat chick on a twinkie.

But it cheesed the way Blizzard viewed the encounter...they wanted it to be chaotic and organization to be the winning formula. So...they too that away from us.....and then gave it to paladins. /facepalm.

they are shortening the CD on Challenging Shout and adding scaling to TC as well as Shockwave and that AoE bleed effect. I don't think they will go further and I believe this is where they want us. I miss the days on Ph1 Nef and Fankriss but....oh well.

It sort of works now, just not super great. I use demo to pull groups clear of late sheep quite often during a pull. That would make it a hawt AOE tanking ability since it can't break CC. I doubt it will have any more effect than it already does though, which is fine with me.

I agree, i think there are bigger issues with prot atm rather than AoE tanking, but from the dev posts i've seen, it is something they want us to be better at, so was just throwing it out there. A

Yeah, I found it odd as well for the devs to be against easy AE management pre/early-BC (threat changes for shouts, damage caps for caster AE, Swipe damage slashed), but then to freely allow this behavior for Paladins.

I suspect this is the main reason you'll never see shout threat returned to the old mechanic. Paladin AE threat is great, but you can't CC affected targets.

The boosted damage on TC seems to be helping a lot in the Beta, and the devs are considering changes to the 4-target cap. I'd really like to see the artificial target cap removed from TC, but we'll have to wait and see if the devs agree.

C'mon man, you have to admit that was the most unskilled way to handle that fight you could have possibly imagined. No arguement however that they then gave that same "no skill, only game mechanics" formula to pallys to AoE tank. We did it fine without using that stuff back in the day, we just had 3 druids help tank the draknoids.

Next thing you are going to tell me is you had everyone stand up by the throne to avoid shadow flames! /cries
