Tanking wrong...or tanking with noobs?

hey all,
I'm feelin kinda burnt out with tanking lately. The reason is, I am gettin dps pulling aggro all the time, at least in 5 mans. I've even lowered my avoidance lately, and rage doesn't seem to always be the issue. I have some hit, im expertise (soft) capped, and I usually have 420 Sbv. My aggro is good in 25 mans, as far as I can see, but 5 mans are killin me....so, is it me or them, and if its them, how do i make em stop without a /uninvite?

It sounds like either

A) You're running with "noobs"
B) You're doing well in 25 man's because of the conveniences of all the buffs you can get on both you and your dps.

If you are running without a paladin in your five-man's, for example, you aren't getting Salv on your dps. This can be huge, as a lot of dps tend to forget that they don't have it and will go all out faster than you can perhaps manage.

If not that, five-man's and heroics aren't taken very seriously anymore by both veterans of the game and those who are new for different reasons. I've been in groups where our resto shaman has pulled the next group because of boredom at how easy it is in comparison to how hard it used to be.

I'll admit to having done the same as dps, even though I know how frustrating it can be to a tank.

The best way to learn, without being kicked, is to let them die. Your only real responsibility is your healer and unless its entirely your fault a dps pulls aggro (off your main target for example without really trying), don't taunt off them. It's how the paladins in my guild have learned is best in teaching me not to sweeping strikes right off the bat in aoe pulls :P

could be a combination of 1) heroic's are fricken easy mod now with all the nerfs and people don't respect the zones. and 2) if your like me you have tanked the zone 1829304 times.. and know every pull by the back of your hand.

If it bores you that much to tank 5 mans.. just don't tank 5 mans..

If you do 25mans, and only have 400something SBV in heroics, then I guess you use the same gear for both. I would try putting together a set with as low avoidance as you can manage and tons of SBV, so your first Shield Slam does $%&$&/ aggro. But seriously, the only way I can stop dps pulling aggro of me is having them wait at least 5-6 seconds, so I have cycled once through all mobs in the pack, and getting them salv. A dpser without salv that opens up right away pulls aggro off every tank. If your dps strongly outgears the instance, you can often get through without really tanking skull at all: after the pull, thunderclap, shield slam/revenge etc the second/third/etc kill target, and just taunt Skull the moment it takes off towards the top dps. finish off your cycle through the remaining mobs, and conc. Blow Skull after taunt wears off. The mob should be pretty much dead by now, and you got a nice threat lead on the remaining mobs. Works great in HC MGT e.g.
