Today the Midsummer quest line opened up (21 jun 08). After doing the quest line and downing the boss in SP one of the guys got the enchant Deathfrost.
Has anyone tested this on tanking weapons or dps for that matter? I enchanted my Mallet of the Tides with it. The up time on the proc looks good. 15% slower attack speed and casting time. It stacks with T-clap. I know it might be better in the hands of a off tank or dps.
If anyone toys around with this can you hit me back on here. Thanks

if it stacks with TC i thnk it may be an excellent mitigation enchant... I doubt many raid DPS will use it over mongoose or executioner but for a mitigation/avoidance weapon it sounds solid

Well ran a few heroics. Up time looked to be around 20-30% on trash and longer fights it stayed up around 30-40% on bosses. Any kind of added slowing effect is PRO in my book. I might take a hit on agro by taking this over executioner. But the slowing effect is so nice. Having a few people in raid with this might be worth it. I don't think more then one can be on a boss at a time so that might be a lose of effect of the enchant. But time will only tell I guess.
Again anyone that tests this out plz post there info here. Want to see and know more about it.

hm, i tested it with a paladin friend, he was wielding Torch und looked at the character tab to tell me his attack speed. While TC was properly applied, Deathfrost didn't make any difference. So, I'm not really sure about this, as blizz' character tab was often buggy in the past, but it says, that it doesn't stack. So any PVE testing against Mobs would be really appreciated.

Ok. while Deathfrost and TC are both active on a warrior. The melee will be slowed by the TC but the casting part of Deathfrost stays active from the testing.
On my pally bud his flash of light cast timer was effected 0.23 timer while both debuffs where on him. So it is a caster only slow while TC is effecting the mob.
Keep it coming guys

I'd bet it would be the same for CoT+ DF like is for TC + DF.

I got this yesterday, anyways even if it does not stack with TC and/or tongues, as far as i tested its a very interesting enchant, i had a little raid for alar(for some friends) and tested with a rouge and lock on "my" mobs.
MOst of the trash were immune to tongues and mind numbing poison, my first intend was to test if it stacks, and i failed to do it. The good thing is, the proc from deathfrost was up like 30% of the time on those mobs, and i tried it on alar(to see if it procs on a boss) and the answer is YES , i ill keep testing on other bosses to see what happen.
On the question about if it stacks with TC im not sure yet. I ill WWS test it today and post later.
Sorry about my lack english.

Despite what you might be reading about this stacking with TF, it doesnt.
Just checked outside IF and when either proc'd my torch went to 4.42 speed, but no higher when they were both proc'd at the same time, neither with thunder clap though that had already been almost confirmed pretty much.

The idea is that both debuffs will stay up but only the most effective is applied |

I think I'll still get this on my offhand, pretty much just for killing Aran when badge grinding in Kara. Can't TC in fury stance, so the slowdown in casting speed is most welcomed there, and I really can't justify putting executioner on the OH weapon at this point, as I don't PvP enough and I'm not having agro problems with mongoose on my MH weapon.

The buffs stack.
However, speed reductions of the same type (e.g. melee speed reductions from deathfrost and thunderclap or from thunderfury) do NOT stack. The highest of each category will overwrite the other.
So, for example:
A Hamstrung, Curse of Tongues'ed, talented Thunderclapped mob would be completely unaffected by Deathfrost.
There was a massive amount of speculation on MTadin about whether consecration would be capable of applying Deathfrost of all the mobs you were AOE tanking, or at least providing lots of different ticks capable of applying it to make up for the otherwise shitty uptime. In this way it might have been able to serve as the long-dreamed-about paladin thunderclap equivalent.
Unfortunately, this doesnt seem to be the functionality, and Deathfrost only seems to proc on the mob you are currently targeting.

Last night, it proc on Archimonde, but does not afected his cast speed. I had TC up on him and the DF-debuff showed but with no effect on the boss.
AHh! btw it does not proc with shapeshifted druids.
So far, Deathfrost+pvetanking = Fail.

Okay, well I think my puzzle here has been answered in several places regarding the deathfrost/thunderclap puzzle, but let's recap. We just did a quick Gruul/Dragonspine Trophy run last night so I blew the dust off the old Blazefury and re-enchanted it. I noticed that both debuffs were up on Gruul, so I thought "hell to the yeah, they stack!" I was then informed that just because a debuff icon is displayed on a mob portrait does NOT mean it is active. Am I really in T6 and didn't know this? Learn something new every day I guess. So help me out here gang - if I see BOTH deathfrost and TC up on a boss or mob, which is active? Does Imp TC override the enchant then, or is it both, with the slowing up from TC and the casting up from deathfrost? Please tell me that Blizz did not come out with this "new and improved" tanking enchant that is essentially negated and trumped by the debuff from one of our staple threat generators.

TC and DEATHFROST can both be up at the same time.
BUT
the Imp.TC will overwrite/take precedence over Deathfrosts melee slow effect since Imp.TC is the larger effect. But deathfrosts other effects are still active on that target.

Has anyone tested if the proc has any additional agro besides the damage? It would not be unheard of for a slow proc to have an agro component.

Doesn't look like having any threat component
