A Tank's Alt

I have one WoW Character, my Tank. I love playing him and love tanking instances, but there are days that I'd prefer to have things go easier. Days when I'd like to be a simple follower carrying out my Tanks directions. Do you have Alts? What class do you recommend. So far I'm thinking of making mine a Mage (Frost, Fire or Arcane). He Can PvP, he can sheep and he can hang back and blast the crap out of stuff.

I have a priest, then when theres complaints about how hard it is to avoid VR's orbs or move out of archi's fire I can say hell no it's not that hard, stop dieing already.

People say healing a raid is kinda like whackamole and dull, well its far more interesting than whacking the same mole over and over again for 10 minutes. You have to be more awake and active than DPS as you have to monitor 24 other health bars and keep yourself alive in many fights.

Priests have a variety of interesting heals for any situation, and I enjoy making the most out of the regen mechanics, as well as being damn sure the important stuff is dispelled (dont you hate having to rely on mages - and sometimes druids - to dispell curses?).

Doesn't sound like the right class for the relaxed role you want to play, but when I'm healing I'm less likely to be called upon to raid lead so it is for me.

Plus when has a raid ever not started due to lack of DPS? Not half as much as when a raid hasn't started due to lack of healing or tanking, it's nice to be able to swop over and fill up a hole.

I kick back and relax on my Warlock (Demonology).
Dot, Dot, Dot, SBolt x3, Repeat as needed to burn em. Occasional Banish, or fear to CC. Wand to lower threat gain.
DPSing is sooooo realaxing on a raid compared to tanking or healing.

i enjoy leveling hunters for an alt, i don't end game with them but i just enjoy questing as a hunter on random servers (current one is 34). A bm hunter is simple and easy to level, its no hassle.

My main alt is a paladin (also a tank lol) but its a totally different feel to my warrior tank.

My preferred alt is my mage, when I like to take a break. (Alt raids). Pretty simple to play, scorch now and then, and then fireball spam, for the most part. Relaxing compared to a prot warrior. Of course, I've also got a paladin, my old main, that I still raid with occasionally, as holy.

Beeing a MT since dinging 60 way back, having alts is for me a fun and relaxing way to ennjoy different aspects of the game.
I have a priest, who I take to KZ and ZA guild runs just to do something else, and see other roles in a raid. Shadowpriest pew pew
Also have a 70 BM hunter, who I use for questing, farming and doing daylies just because it's so much easier with a hunter, and it's great fun.
I hardly use my tank for anything outside the raid hours actually.

"main alt" is such an elitist term.

My main alt is a shadow priest. I also enjoy leveling a BM hunter every now and then. My shaman gets no play other than as a farmer.

Mage, then Hunter, then Priest, then Shaman. This is the order I went for my alt free times. Mage was definately the more fun to level but the Shaman was the fastest. Currently working on a druid because they are Haxx...

I have a rogue that's my "primary alt" and PvP toon. It's fun going through on our alt raids and seeing the content from a different angle. I also enjoy the different style that my rogue has in PvP compared to my warrior.

Cant believe no one has a druid. Honestly my fav "alt class" . It can do it all if your bored of melee go to caster dps, or heal. Not to mention dancing as a bear never gets old!!

Affliction lock for farming. U dont know how easy it is to farm with a 40/0/20 spec aff. 5-6 mobs dot dot dot howl and boom they dead. The only problem is to go find their corpses after they have died.

Holy priest - To see how the other half lives. Its a different stress compared to tanking but there is a lot less pressure if your just MT healing. Also u can see what type of healing to throw on the MT by looking at his gear. (ie avoidance healing vs EH healing)

Come Wotlk I'll be moving my current alt-warrior to my new main and moving my priest, lock, hunter & druid to alt status.

Depending on how the talents look, my priest or druid may go heal mode. For a pure farming class, I would probably keep my lock for that. He can kill forever, with no downtime and doesn't need ammo or food for his pets.

Hunter alt because it was a joke to level him =D
For fun i have a druid alt, i love the shapeshifting stuff and i am rich enough to buy him a healer + a feral set...
You can also use the Hunter for farming pretty well, which is nice!

actually i tried almost every class once and did them till 20-30 just because i was curious.
I love alts =D

I have a frost mage alt that does all my farming (aside from AoE grinding on things) and I have a Horde Disc Priest now I'm using as a PvP toon. The Horde crushes the Alliance on Emberstorm... if you can't beat them, join them
