Thunderfury in TBC

does this weapon still cut it for 25 man tbc raiding? for main tanks?

in a nutshell is it still worth the hassle of obtaining?

any answers appreciated, especially from tanks who actually have the weapon

Worth the hassle? Hmm, probably not. Its not "superior" to anything out there really. I feel like I have to "make it work" when I use it in raids now. I had been playing a resto druid while raiding until the last 3 weeks so I'm behind on gear and I've ended up tanking the first 3 bosses in Mt. Hyjal with it.

It does well. Threat seemed to be okay with it. I use it over King's Defender but if a T5 or T6 weapon became available, I would upgrade to it. Until then, its serviceable, or at least I tell myself that so I can still use it and brandish my epeen

There is a tank on my server who is working on Felmyst who still uses that as his MT weapon for progression bosses. He says the debuff is just too good, and he still puts out enough TPS so nobody has problems.

If you want to armory him, his name is Daisho on Sen'jin.

I plan to use it on just about everything once I get my other binding. Not because it's super good or anything, but because it's shiny and orange and I've wanted one ever since my rogue had a binding 3+ years ago.

I did some recalculations on it a while ago, and I think, if the proc is affected by misery and stormstrike, that it's a 110+ dps weapon. However it doesn't scale in the same way a real weapon would as you get higher crit and AP. Generally though, having very high crit/ap while tanking is only when you're doing something where you actually have a super stacked group, and thus, may be tanking easy content anyhow.

I really also want to get one to see what kind of threat I can put out with it, to see how it actually compares to a normal weapon.

It's definitely a worse mitigation weapon than the common Unbreakable Will, though.

I grinded TF after tbc, really easy btw. Anyways i use it quite a bit especaily in rage starwed fights and when ot'ing (rotating on bb for example), it is really good in low rage situations when ur just spaming dev and revenge. When mt'ing bosses i use brutalizer with executioner. TF really shines when u get wf and with lots of parry so u get the attack speed buff.

So all in all, imo TF is serverly underestimated in TBC it is still a really good tank wpn.

Well i use the Brutalizer for Bosses, but TF is an amazing Trashtankweapon. In MH you can only hit 4 target with TC every 4 secs to get the 20%debuff up, but with TF it is no problem.
Very usefull, it is between some sheeps, u have 20% dmg reduction on meleedmging trash, while standing next to 3 sheeps and 1 sleep.
And every boss where u have a 2nd tanking roll, like add tanking etc and u cannot wear dps gear, u can use the TF to support your mt, maybe a resisted TC can be avoided by a lucky proc
Well other ways to use it:
-Procs on Supremus look great
-Shatposing
-and answering the question: "where does it drop", replied by: "MC", and another: "where?" , "Molton Core", /2 LFG Molton Core

Well i dont know if it is worth, cause i am one of the once, just doing mc 4 fun 3times and completing it in 3 weeks. But on the other hand, it is very easy to farm it, u just need 10 good friends

If Thunderfury is still quite-oft used, where does it fit into the main gear stickies in the Library, etc?

If you're using Thunderfury instead of King's Defender, is that because of your overall gear makeup or in the stickies would you forego King's Defender in Kara if you already had a Thunderfury (from pre-BC)?

I'd like to know where people think it fits in overall in comparison to the plethora of other aggro/mitigation weapons in the various gear threads.

TIA!

Any thoughts on how to get the elementium bars post-TBC? I am on a low'ish horde pop server and although I haven't tried it yet, seems like that would be the hard part.

You can farm the goblin techie packs and leave one alive, then zone out to reset them and they'll respawn. We farmed them this way back in the day with ~7 people to get elementium to get our 4 TFs made.

I still use mine on progression fights where the boss silences (Mother and Azgalor come to mind). The debuff is usually perma-up and it isn't affected by silence, so when I'm worrying about other things... like staying alive, having one less thing to think about was always good.

Is it worth farming though? Unfortunately, probably not.
