ToC 10 vs ToC 25 shield dilemma

Got both, but not as thrilled as I should be about upgrading

Aegis of the Coliseum to my Forlorn Barrier

Here are the tradeoffs:
+349 arm. (ups my dmg reduction by 0.36%)
+20 str
+4 def
+37 dodge
+25 block value

-39 parry
-28 stam

now, its obvious that the 25 man one is better for dps/tps, but threat is REALLY not an issue for me, with that in mind - should I still go for the 10 man one until I start noticing some threat issues or should I just go for it straight away and disregard the stam loss?

With the Barrier you're getting a tiny bit more avoidance. 35 more sbv, 50 attack power and 349 armor.

In exchange for 28 stam.

I would go Barrier over Aegis but it wouldn't be a MASSIVE upgrade. Just stick with whatever you get first.

I would think that the 349 Armor it provides would be worth more EH than the 10M anub shield, and you get more avoidance to boot, from the +dodge and the +defense rating.

Though, depending on what your requirements from the current encounter was, you could always just carry both around for your "maximum HP" fights where you would need to squeeze every drop of HP out of your gear. For now I'd say go Forlorn over AotC

I have both, i use Aegis of the Coliseum, imo it's better, more health, only a bit less of the other stats.

350 armor > 30 stam

From an EH PoV alone the 25 man shield is already superior to the 10 man normal one.
On top of that you get more shieldblock and avoidance to further increase its worth over the 10 man shield for "staying alive".

Given the itemization on this 245 and 232, the 245 (I don't bother using names anymore with the stupid horde/alliance different naming conventions) is significantly better overall. Don't get lulled into the pug style thinking that your unbuffed health defines your survivability.

Now, the 245 vs the Boreal Guard at 232 with the extra socket... that's a tougher one I'm seriously debating switching, but I am having a hard time biting the bullet. I'll miss my guard, it took me so long to get it.

I would probably go with Forlorn Barrier, but it really comes down to a question of "armor or stamina?". While you might feel little inadequate in stamina department right now, soon enough you'll be sitting in +40k hp and looking for other options to make most out of that "buffer".

Best option would be to keep working on Heroic Northrend Beasts 25 and grab Forlorn Barrier 258
