excellent list, i spend time at work pouring over it
i noticed that the shield rep reward (Bulwark of the Warchief & Shield of the Lion-Hearted) have the same stats but more tanking points are rewarded to the horde shield (4059 vs 3712)
edit2: Argent Crusade rep reward in the legs section, it lists Special Issue Legplate, but the link goes to the holy paladin caster plate legs instead.

Just got Rune of Repulsion - Item - World of Warcraft today from 25 Man Naxx, Sapphiron.
Figure this should rank pretty high, almost 2% parry before diminishing returns |

I am starting to get a bit lost in all of this. Great thread though .. but how does this compare with the in-game mod : Tank Points?
I am getting some staggeringly different results between the 2 lists.
The main difference seems to be BV .. Tank Points seems to have an much higher value for BV. For example, Skadi's Iron Belt is simply off the charts compared to Ancient Aligned Girdle and Waistguard of Living Iron. It is well above and beyond the difference of the gem I have modded into it from Blacksmithing.
Overall I am leaning more towards this lise. I like BV a lot, but .. it's hard to imagine it being that far over the top.
EDIT : Another example is the Toxin-Tempered Sabatons being quite a bit higher on the Tank Points mod compared to Terrance Defence Boots.

Has anyone looked into the Darkmoon Card : Death in combination with 'Damage Shield' and maybe even Critical Block...
I'm wondering (since I read somewhere the new cards have a 35% chance to proc) how much additional Aggro / AOE aggro that would provide, since the mobs would be building their own aggro, and at a significant rate.. (in theory).. Of course I have been wrong before.. Combined with the Haste Rating, seems like a decent Tank Trinket.

I still like the mod and find the in-game calculator in particular to be quite useful, but there are times I simply know it's way off. Just off the top of my head I can think of Skadi's Iron Belt, Tattered Castle Drape, Toxin-Tempered Boots, and Unsmashable Heavy Band as items tankpoints was way off on, rating each as best in game as a matter of fact. It's no coincidence that each of these items sports some BV.

Great guide, I'm finding it very useful!
Just wanted to mention an item I didn't see on the list. Tattered Castle Drape
It is a BoE drop in Heroic Utgarde Keep; since its BoE, you can find it on the AH too. I personally like it better than the Cloak of Peaceful Resolutions, but I think its around that on the list, more of an side ways move, rather than vertical.
Thanks again for the great guide.

Since I was far above def cap lately I just picked Bracers of Lost Sentiments - Item - World of Warcraft yesterday, they have str/sta/hit/expertise and they were upgrade off my bracers of reverence.
They shall be included in list for sure.

| | Tattered Castle Drape, which is a zone drop in heroic Utgarde Keep, should probably be added to the list.

These items could be added to the list:
Tattered Castle Drape
Weighted Throwing Axe
Also the leg enchants but they're kinda obvious.

However, BV is still have high value.

I'm not even factoring in Shield Block, since I see it kinda like a panic button you use when you're about to take increased damage. Including it in the calculations would in my opinion be the same as including Last Stand, assuming it's used every cooldown.
Critical Block is included though.
Intuitively I'd say that BLV is a pretty bad stat for mitigation (against hard hitting bosses), and since my simple math agrees with that I see no reason for me to think otherwise.

Curious as to where Defender's Code from Thaddius 25 man(Can't figure out item links atm) would fall in this list. Would assume the 800 armor and the nice dodge on use would put it up to the valor medal atleast.

I think it makes total sense to add shield block to the calculations.
In most of the fights I see myself using shield block on every cooldown, simply because for 'panic' situations I have 2 other buttons (namely Last Stand and Shield Wall), my priest healer has another (Guardian Spirit), same thing with our resto shamans, druids and paladins.
That's why I think I get better utilization of my abilities if I push shield block on pull and every 30s after that, I generate more threat and mitigate more damage.
This ofc is not true for ALL situations but I think almost all. For example, Maexxna, where I do shield block after web wrap to help reduce my damage intake, Sapphiron after explosion, Malygos after vortex. But even in those fights, shield block is almost always being pushed.
Taking shield block entirely from the numbers creates far more more bias than adding it does.

Disregarding diminishing returns, dodge rating gives more avoidance than parry rating, though parry rating ups your threat a little bit. Of course, if you have lots of dodge and very little parry, then the latter would be worth more.

I noticed it wasn't in here as well and I've been making rather nice use of it for upping my block value for mitigation and tps, "Shadow of the Ghoul" is a cloak that drops off of trash in 25 man Naxx, and was just curious as to your placement of it against the other cloaks.
