I've read most of the tank posts and see one thing missing. I'm not sure if other warrios use this but I like to use mocking blow (on all bosses and big single target adds) right off the get go b/c it forces your target to focus all attacks on you for 6 secs. It does fail every once in awhile so i use taunt then ss and immediatly stack my sunders, then begin my threat gain like all others.

Why would you blow on of your best emergency abilities for nothing?

If you loose the boss that early your rouges/hunters are not doing their job and the other dps classes screwed up too.

Save live saving abilities for when you need them!

What I was missing:
Heroic Throw usage during standard rotation. Threatwise it falls directly between Shockwave and Conc-Blow and for fights/phases without needing it as a fallback ability during movement, other utility stuff or range-pulling tool it would be just a bad habit not to use it on cooldown.

Hi.

First of all, good job on the guide. But after listening I was asking myself: what about getting the thread of spawning mobs like the adds in for example the anub'arak encounter in toc 10 man heroic version? In my 10 man raid it's usually up to me to pick up the adds and tank them on permafrost. If they now spawn from different sides (so one from the left and one from the right), how do I get them quickly enough, so that will not a) slay a healer b) submurge or c) get their shadowstrike cast through?

Hope you can help me out here.

P.S. Hope I didn't make too much mistakes; quite a while ago that I spoke English the last time

This works out fine with the first two adds, but there is still cd on ht when the second spawn arrives...so there is only taunt to get the "initial" aggro I'd guess. Problem here is, as soon as one of the adds crosses a permafrost patch, it is slowed for longer than my taunt's running...

just some advice

i found this jewel i think while looking around here i believe and is in fact a viable single target rotation. Also you can couple a few of the abilities together i.e. tc/cleave demo/sw to make your aoe tanking, there is another macro that i use, but ill check with some people before i talk more about it. but ahh hope that helps

Sounds like a waste of 1) your mocking blow and 2) a GCD.

aoe tanking rotation;

let say that there is 3 mobbs to take over ,so call them A ,B and C
. dps is quite good. what u do ?
pulling; todays 80lv tanks has a shotgun or throw (emblems stuff) so we got one skill to pull. second is Heroic Throw and the third is Charge.
to pull ,target your C target and hit shot/throw skill then quick target B and HT and then target A - hit the charge. that should take about 1sec to 1.5sec max to perform. C will stick to you (dps focused on A ofkoz) ,B will stick 2 u or not hehe (HT is cousing aggro btw) and A will be stuned.
when charging A ,hit TC once you touch target then run around. what i mean by "run around" ? just after TC hold your "A"+"E" keys togheter to strafe right and turn left at the same time. release keys when u will face your group (180) but also try to keep targets in the staight line to hit Schockwave in all of them. "run around" is takin about 1-1.5sec to perform and it is a time for tergets B and C to give u some rage as the A is stuned. so when u face your group ,hit Schockwave and smile to the mobbs
hit SB and give target A CB that he cant change his target for next 5 sec >tab on B> mocking blow - holds B on you for 6 sec >tab on C> SS or Revenge >tab on A> SS (if refreshed) or Devastate ,TC ,Devastate (stacks) > ......
while using skills ,spam HS and Cleave but responsibly as you dont want to freeze hehe.
ofcoz you would like to find more space in rotations for things like Demo Shout ,Disarm sometimes or refresh Comm/Battle shout and it depends of you what you will change in your rotation when you need it. Mocking Blow has 1min CD so its not always available to use. remember to move your camera around.

i hope that this rotation will help starting tanks (blue/BSepic items) to keep aggro in heroics with groups ,where dps is about 1.5k to 3.5k.

I've been tanking for four and a half years now on my warrior, and I will have to say that I am still thoroughly impressed with this video. It was quite informative and probably covers all of the necessary basic tanking information as well as being well thought through and well organized. Usually it takes a very long time for someone to learn and understand those key points mentioned, and it's wonderful that someone has taken the time to explain them for the beginners.

I tip my hat to you ma' lady.

As a side note and addition to the other many posts, that UI is very nice, and I hope that you will be able to get it working in the near future.

Although some people may not agree with a few points on the way she explains things, please notice that this is a video for the beginner tank, and tanking does require one to find his/her own niche.

Great guide!

Just a nitpick about Vigilance:
and if they pull aggro, refreshes your taunt ability.
shouldn't it be:
and if they get hit (by an attack, not aoe), refreshes your taunt ability.
