Unable to access Maintankadin

Hey there, I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but as Maintankadin and Tankspot have a good deal of cross-traffic I figured it was as good a place as any to ask.

I haven't been able to access maintankadin for weeks, I don't know why, I was just suddenly unable to, I know other people can, which is why it annoys me that I can't. (Everyone must be miserable if I am!)

Here's a picture of the error I get, any help would be much appreciated.

Ahh well I can't seem to work the attachement thing, but if any of you are familiar with the Firefox error page which says the

"Network Timeout

The operation timed out when attempting to contact maintankadin.failsafedesign.com.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary failure? Try again later.

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.

* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance."

First thing, try and change your DNS settings to OpenDNS to make sure that it's not a problem with your ISP's Dns servers. You can find the instructions on how to do this here:

https://www.opendns.com/start/computer/

If it works, then you can either leave those, otherwise you need to get in touch with your ISP.

If that's not working then run a traceroute.

In Vista Type CMD into the search box, and open up the command prompt
In XP go to Start, then Run and type CMD.exe.

Once you have done this type the following next to c:\>
Code:
tracert http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com
And post the results here, this should give an indication of where the problem is coming from.

I used the link you gave me and followed the instructions but it keeps saying I haven't got it done, I'll jigger around with it a little more.

I also did the tracert and these are the results:

Ill need to get home and check what happens here, by the looks of it the connection is getting outside your ISP, but failing before it reaches Maintankadin.

Out of intrest, try and access the site using the IP address:
63.223.114.15

And see if you get the same error.

Mine is timing out at 204.14.123.134 as well. That is most likely a firewall. I think he is getting there.

Have you tried a different browser? Maybe you have a dirty cache issue. Maybe he was banned?

Adrenalize,
I tried that site you asked me to try and yes, I also can't get to that one.

Doormat,
I don't know what ICMP is.

Widdox,
Glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem, I did try it on Iexplorer after you posted that and it dosn't work on that either.
I don't properly know what a dirty cache is, but I do regularly clear all my private data using the firefox option.
As far as I know I wasn't banned, I posted very little, was mainly a lurker and didn't really do anything distinguishing, I used it mainly as a resource.

Everyone who replied
I'd love to get this problem sorted out, thanks for your help so far.

What URL are you using to access maintankadin exactly?

I just tried the maintankadin.failsafedesign.com address he has in his post, and it went right to it.

Maybe try a DNS flush? Open up the command prompt again (like when you ran the tracert above, and type "ipconfig /flushndns" (without quotes). I've had to do that a couple times to get things working right again. Also - do you have up to date virus and spyware software?

Could even be a hosts file problem.

I'm using Maintankadin • Index page to access the site, Jere.

I tried doing that DNS flush, I'm not sure whether that did something or whether the problem has just gotten different, but now I'm getting a
"406 Not Acceptable" page.

I've got some virus protection, yes.

Edit: I'm now getting the Network timeout screen again

You could also follow the instructions at OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet to use their services instead (I do), and that has improved by browsing speed and reliability.

same thing, I can't access the site for a few days now, and I didn't change anything at all in my home network.
It's the only site I can't see out of the whole internet.. lol.. I really don't get it.
Even with open DNS, it doesn't work. I have a network timeout each time.
Clearing dns didn't help, clearing temp etc, didn't change it too.
I'm running out of options.

ok, simple solution for those who have problems still : anonymous proxy

really stupid thing, but it works.

use for example : http://proxify.co.uk/

anyway, this is I hope a temp solution, as I see no reason why I can't connect to maintankadin like every other site on the internet..

I've tried using OpenDNS and I think it says I've now got it enabled, but it still won't let me access Maintankadin.

I also can't access it in any way, I had some links to some topics and none of them worked either, it's not just the home page that's giving me difficulty.

That proxy server seems to work, which is very handy, as I can finally access it, but it seems weird to me that Maintankadin and only Maintankadin is inaccessible to me.

Out of curiousity, have you tried clearing your cache, etc?

1. Tools->Clear Private data
2. Check everything and clear
3. Restart firefox

NOTE: That will reset your saved logins, etc.

I have indeed cleared my cache and wiped all private data using that a few times, and I tried it as I read your post just in case, but to no avail.
