| | | Real Life Onslaught Armor...
Hey Everyone,
It's really starting to happen. I waited patiently for the armorsmith to finish the work he had. Now that he's finished he's begun the preliminary stage of crafting the real life Onslaught Armor! Here are the sketches. We're working on some real life sizing issues, but other than that he's ready to put hammer to steel. Also to come, the Brutalizer and Bulwark of Azzinoth.

That's kinda really cool ^_^
I would think you would need a burly-ier man to pull it off, as it's prolly gonna be heavy as a mofo depending on the materials he uses. The shoulders are very interesting, as is the helm. Keep us updated ^_^

I don't know how heavy it's going to be, but he's using box construction for everything he can so it'll be hollow in the middle. Otherwise, the weight would be way too much to bear. I remember he calculated it using real metal and it would've been impossible.

Being an actual, Welder / Fabricator, who dabbles quite a bit in the world of Blacksmithing / Weapon and Amorsmitihg. That will be quite the accomplishment when finished. It WILL be heavy no matter what and quite cumbersome. But sweet Jesus it will be AWSOME! |

You could always use 6061 T6 Aluminum. It's better known as Aircraft Aluminum. It's very strong and very light. It isn't the best candidate for bending cold, as it cracks, but if you heat it up first it'll bend nicely.
On top of that, all of the ridges in the armor would really add to the strength, much like the very thin (20 guage) steel they use in cars. Add a bend or two and it's strong as can be.

Alright, if you are really lucky enough to get this awesome stuff made, the law of universal geekness says you must wear it to a blind date.

Strong enough to last 15 minute brawl against gigantic raging dragon ? | No, probably not. But if that's what you want, Titanium would be the way to go. That's what military vehicles are armored with.
It's light weight, extremely strong and extremely expensive.

Well, I'm hoping to pick it up by Christmas. You'll probably see me at next year's BlizzCon wearing this in all my geeky glory. Now, where can I find a good quality Alliance tabard?
