Ran Heroic UP today with a hunter, TG warrior (who had no meta gem), and a rogue who was 52 in sub with no Honor Among Thieves (argh). Sadly, I was doing the most damage throughout the instance, even without deep wounds (I do have impale, though I'm using a blue 2.6 speed sword). Every 3 minutes, the hunter would ask for someone to link the damage meter, and threw a fit when I replied "Still lower than the tank."
Stupid sword or didn't drop again, like 0 for 11. No block value belt either
I just can't fathom how DPS can be so terrible that a prot warrior in blues beats them. It's not like thunder clap, cleave, and shockwave are huge quantities of my damage (maybe 30% throughout the whole instance). Then when you call them terrible and tell them they should be ashamed they get all defensive and say "who cares we cleared the instance." Yeah, except it took twice as long as it should have.

This reminds me of an old thread about best reasons that someone got kicked from a group. Back when warlock soul shards used to show when they were created, a level 30-ish player complained that the Warlock was ninja looting the items and to stop it. The warlock explained what they were, but the other player kept accusing him of ninja looting them, and finally booted him from the party... >_<;

me: stop pulling groups, let me pull and establish some threat before you jump in
hunter: were handling it fine, quiet bitching
next pull does it again
me: dude!
hunter: were surviving just fine, just do your job and lets keep going
me: learn your job, ur dps isnt strong, your missing traps, and your fighting the wrong mobs
hunter: whatever i dont have to try on this one, i dont even need this instance
me: then why are you here?! just because you don't want to be here is no excuse to perform poorly, word gets around fast
/kick

So 2 days a go I got my resto druid to 80, I have been doing pugs with him. I have to say if the tanks I have ran with lately are my competition, then I feel I am a good tank.
On my druid I am always having to shadowmeld to drop aggro and constantly having to heal all 4 of the other group members instead of just the tank. I hold back my comments though because I dont want to sound like a know it all lol.

Ninja-looting soul shards, absolutely brilliant.
Didn't the text say "Mr.Warlock created a soul shard?" I mean... How is there even any confusion?

AHAHAAHAHA!
Wow, I'm glad I don't get people like this. You know what happened the last time I PuGed (going into a H-HoL)?
Recruiter: "How much hp do you have?"
Recruiter: "Sorry, I wouldn't normally ask, but the last 3 tanks we had were all awful."
Arvandor: "22k hp, 23k armor, heroic uncrittable, and 30% combined dodge/parry before blade barrier."
Recruiter: "Oh good, we'll be fine then."
Just for the record, that group was AMAZING. I can't imagine how bad their tanks must have been that the rest of the group wasn't just carrying the tank through no problem.
And this is about par for the course as far as night owl PuGs on Twisting Nether go. I almost WISHED I had some awesome PuG horror stories, but I really don't. | Most runs I've done on Aggramar have gone off without a hitch. The only retard PuG story I have that I can think of was running heroic Gundrak on my rogue, the ring from the last boss dropped ( Hemorrhaging Circle - Item - World of Warcraft) and both hunters in the group rolled on it. One of them won it. I don't care if it has a lot of agi and AP, it has expertise on it which means it is not for hunters. I needed it |

while i feel you on needing the ring, did you say that you wanted it and were rules for the loot laid out before hand? or were they just bein asses?
be patient, youll see it again...ive ran that place more times than i can count and have seen it quite a few times.

i just did a gundrak pug tonight and as soon as i joined the group all 4 of them asked what my hp was...i replied with look at my avatar. the priest said:? I wish i would have left group then.
We wiped on the first boss twice i had the highest dps both times and it was only 1300 after second wipe i asked if any of them had done this before all 4 said no and one of them said: lol this is my first heroic
im never pugging again

Best one i got was a healer from some random guild, he was a troll shammie, asked if he could run with myself and my other 3 guildmates in UK real quick. I was like sure, hell, i can tank that place with my back and not die...
First pull...i grab 3, he runs ahead drops tots, pulls 5 more, i pick it up, rip tide, lesser healing wave, and chain heal hit me for a combined 7k.....i took about 15k worth of damage, he noticed i hit my CD's, he high tails and runs....i die, i talk with him, he says sorry dude, normally if a tank aint geared enough for heroics i bail so i dont get a repair bill. Long story short, he spent about another 3 seconds in the group.
Gear at that time, 2/5 heros, valorous gloves, and alot of 10man naxx loot. Armory showed me why he sucked...he was still wearing S2 and pulled more mobs then he could heal.

Common sense would dictate that they let an actual melee dps take it, and only need something they can't fully use if there are no melee dps who want it.

Oh I'm glad to read this thread and know its not just me. I was in an awful pug in Heroic Nexus earlier in the week. Was going ok apart from the pally and lock asking to pick up the pace. As a whole that wasnt to bad until pulls started going awry. As I was marking up groups the pally would just pull, then while Im trying to pick up the mess (usually popping chall shout and then aoe taunt etc) the lock starts asking me to increase my aggro....
Then when I was corner pulling, the lock and I think hunter started dpsing different mobs befor ethe group had even reached me and they wern't standing around the corner. They couldnt understand why the mob group split and again Im trying to run around mopping up.
The last part was the worst, the pally left after one wipe on the last boss, then the lock had a go at me for not blind recruiting a healer. Which, I wont do, I always /w first esp when not a full run. I asked a priest in lfg and they didnt want a last boss only so I didnt invite which was fair enough. the lock was then saying I should have just invited and it was all my fault etc.
Needless to say the group broke up there. Another fun pug run....
Im far from a great tank and reading on here Im learning alot which is great, but as above, this group also started with me being asked what my hp was. (its 25k, 542 def, 23k armour)

I was like sure, hell, i can tank that place with my back and not die... | I got funny mental images from this. A tank taunting the trash by turning his back and being like "Go ahead, flog me, I dare you. Ahhh, that feels better, no, a little lower and to the left... Perfect... Mmmm... Are you going to be available this time next week? Dirt nap? Well to hell with you too."
Man, 7k from 3 heals though? I think you'd have been just as well off with my level 75 restokin healing you =P

Once again I feel blessed by being a Twisting Nether nightowl. The absolute worst loot problem I've ever had was someone habitually greeding on a blue instead of passing for DE.
Everyone I have EVER PuGed with asks persmission to roll on their off-spec gear (and sometimes even their main spec gear), whether there's an actual competetor or not (one and only mail wearer asking if he can need on mail... In a PuG...)

be patient, youll see it again...ive ran that place more times than i can count and have seen it quite a few times. | To be fair, no hard loot rules were decided upon and I think they just saw agi and AP and thought "yummy". I wasn't really complaining about losing the ring, I didn't even say anything to them about it. I was just using that story as an example of how little trouble I've had with pugs At the moment I'm making out like a bandit in Naxx so I'll probably end up with a ring this raid week I certainly didn't mean to start an argument about loot rules.

Although I have 27-28.5k HP unbuffed, if anyone ever asks me about my HP when I say I'll join their group, I decline. Someone asked me my HP for going to a ZA fun-run the other day.. I mean, wtf.
People who care about a tank's HP only are a BIG turn off. If they ask me my def, I just say "trust me, I'm uncrittable ". | I kind of understand why they ask for your hp. It's the most visible stat they can go by. And even though there are very few poor tanks who reads tank spot, they do exist and continues to make life miserable for pug healers |

Everyone seems to follow the same loot rules unless they don't play much/transfered. Although, I have had problems lately with dps DKs rolling on tank gear without saying anything (one took Cloak of the Enemy and another took Slaughterhouse Sabatons , luckily I won the roll for Arcane-Shielded).

Heroic Violet Hold with a pug. This from the Death Knight.
"Do you have a Rend Armor button? It's the best way to get aggro."
And there was me wasting all my time reading the posts about shield slam and revenge.
