Yeah, running UK constantly is providing me with a lot of Ore rather than trying to farm it out in HF or BT.

Great post, I just hit 80 and had a billion ore on my bank, so I was looking for a guide. However, there are several changes I think you should make, seeing as it looks like you made this guide before going through the motions.

375-380 should be Cobalt Gauntlets instead of Helm, as they are orange instead of yellow at this level and cost the same to make.
380-385 should be Spiked Cobalt Boots, it becomes yellow at 385.
385-390 should be Sure-Fire Shuriken, it costs the same as Spiked Cobalt boots but is orange for these 5 points.
390-395 should be Spiked Cobalt Gauntlets, it becomes yellow at 395.
395-400 should be Spiked Cobalt Belt/Legplates, they cost the same as Spiked Cobalt Gauntlets but are orange for these 5 points.

I'll update this post when I have some time on my hands. Solid guide overall, but it needs some slight tweaking.

I know the list was built around non-random drops but for those who want to try their luck the reinforced cobalt set (4 pieces from 4 specific mobs) is good return for cobalt. They all only need 4 cobalt bars each, and I believe the chest is yellow til 415. I got the shoulders on my first/second kill of the specified npc in dragonblight, and at 384 its still orange. As I am not a miner, every piece of cobalt I can save helps

Apparently Wowhead's info is wrong.

400 is Socket Gloves + bracers (EVEN BETTER!).
415 is Belt.

There were a few recipes which turned yellow in your guide when there are orange recipes which require the same amount of mats.

With that said, saronite is terrible.

I am at 440 BS right now but only lvl 73, lol. Tempting fate roaming Sholozar like that but meh, nothing out there can kill me, even solo'd the lvl 76 rare elite tiger!

So....frozen orbs are gonna be a trick. Titanium is tough to find as well and now that I have 80 fricken keys......

One thing though, I am almost certain socketing gloves/bracers is 400 or at least before the belt buckle.

Yes, I got the one to drop off a Scarlet dude in Dragonblight. Shoulders, I think. Made a handful of those for skillups and fed them to my wife to level her enchanting.

Initially, the blues were selling on the AH for a ton of gold and I quickly made alot of money. Its fallen off since then but the belt buckle will remain a high demand item, IMO.

Hey!

I am glad you guys like the guide thus far; and college has been a monster. So I have not had all of the time I would like to update the guide. I'm looking through the posts here and will update accordingly .

By the way has anyone found a cheaper way to do 440-450 BS? Some guy on my server got to 450 and would not pipe up on his secret.

Unless he got a lucky plan drop or something, no....he probably just mined the crap out of Sholozar like I should have and brute force crafted buttloads of yellow and green skillups. I'm guessing the Saronite gear turns green at 445....maybe keys..../shrug.

Someone on Lothar hit it Saturday morning and my jaw hit the floor. I got the announcement and just shrugged. I can't use anything I can make just yet so its not critical. I proved my point so now, I'll probably hit mining now and then but mostly focus on leveling. I can make everything off the trainers and intend to do so as I gear up for Naxx so I'll get there naturally without grinding away at it.

Competing with flying mounts sucks.

The reinforced cobalt pieces are the cheapest way to level BS from 375 to 415 (or even 425 if you don't mind skilling up on yellow plans). They are only 4 cobalt bars each and I think are well worth the effort considering how much gold you can save, especially if you are not a miner.

They are really common drops, I got mine in roughly 30 minutes of grinding (including flying time). They are BOP plans that only drop for blacksmiths so the wowhead drop rate is way off.

Plans: Reinforced Cobalt Chestpiece
Plans: Reinforced Cobalt Helm
Plans: Reinforced Cobalt Shoulders

There is a potential for selling the items themselves as they are not a well known recipe yet and there are a mass of new DK's that can use them. If you are disenchanting then the chest piece is a good one to go with as its quite a high ilevel green.

Normally I'm not a fan of grinding recipes but in this case I think reward > effort.

Honestly I'd *Strongly* recomend farming a reinforced cobalt pattern and just making those. I got the helm and was able to skill up to 400 without any issues at a cost of 4 cobalt/ skillup. So I used 100 bars vs the guides 215 - it takes a LONG time to farm 115 cobalt vs the time needed to farm the pattern.

If money is no problem, follow this list. I can see that a bunch of people on my server (Alleria) are doing just that. If you're trying to make something that you can make a bit fo change on, try looking for yellow recipes that aren't for sale on the AH. For instance, I made that first colbalt BP until they greened out, simply because no one else was bothering to make them, and I could put em up on the AH and they'd always sell. May as well be rewarded for your creations...

Without a doubt, the best 30-40 minutes of grinding you can do as a BS is getting that pattern.

Edit:

Made these till they were green. Then moved to buckles (till grey) because I know they will sell. I'll probably work on daunting legplates till 450...

to those of you that dont know how to level a profession, its the same for all of them. you pick the orange item (guaranteed skill point) with the lowest amount of materials required to make.

edit: thanks for the tip on the patterns. im in dragonblight, so im totally grinding for one...

Actually that is not always true. Sometimes a yellow item is a better option.

For example, take an orange item that requires 12+ of some type of bars. If there is a yellow item that only needs 4 or that same type of bars, you would have to miss 2 out of 3 creations to match the same amount of mats in the one orange pattern. Odds are, when going for 5 skill points, that you will get all 5 of those points before 15 creations (the break even point) and end up saving some mats in the process. This goes even more true if the mats for the orange pattern are generally more expensive/difficult.

Farm the chestpiece.

Drop everything else you're doing and do it now...unless, of course, you're doing the Nessingwary quests. In which case, do it WHILE doing those...which is how I got it.

It is BY FAR the cheapest 40 levels you'll get. It made what could have been a 8000g adventure to 440 a 3000g adventure (not a miner, so I am purchasing off the AH...at the nutty inflated prices things are at now).

HIGHLY recommend it.

Thanks for the info about the farmed recipes. I went last night and killed maybe 10 masons and got the shoulder recipe in 15 minutes. Its still orange for me, I wish I knew about this before I used other recipes to get to 390.

I'm sitting on 440 with all the trainer taught recipes learned. I have enough mats to crank out a half a dozen 'yellow' skills but I'm not going to be the server first BS (My God, someone hit it on FRIDAY?!?) I intend to make a few of the epic titansteel pieces, some to actually wear, so....I'll just smelt my daily titansteel and get some heroics done and I'll get there in time.
