State of the Spot -- Evolution

Community Growth
The community is growing wonderfully. The server is consistently seeing 8,000+ visitors each day, inching us closer to the year-end goal of 10,000 or more.

We've recently grown to over 2,000 registered members. Since we're still in the brand-new status as far as the Warcraft community goes, this is great news.

Community Action
While other sites can report the news, few can claim to have helped create the news. We can say we've done both.

At this point it's fair to say that our concerted efforts on testing Devastate as well as pushing for Expertise for Human and Orc racials had an impact on the 2.3 development cycle.

Upcoming Evolution -- TankSpot
The following changes are planned for implementation:
  • Create a Community Moderator rank for TankSpot;
  • Create a running Patch Notes and PTR Patch Notes thread with visible version history and link this in a prominent header both inside and outside of the forums;
  • Create a centralized blog page where blog entries from multiple authors can be read simultaneously;
  • Expand News and Frontpage authorship to allow more frequent updates by more Authors;
  • Discuss and expand information on upcoming tanking mods with the Authors and the community.

Upcoming Evolution -- Server Community

The following changes are planned for the server and will be accessible through TankSpot. However, they will have virtually no impact on TankSpot or site accessibility.
  • Forums will introduce new upper tier similar to TenTonHammer which will include the TankSpot forums. This is to minimize the impact of other projects and avoid creating additional and unrelated sub-forums on the TankSpot forums;
  • The upper tier will hold a single domain name separate of TankSpot which represents the server community. The upper tier will be the official host of the Shoutbox, Galleries, and Arcade (again, no impact on TankSpot other than a greater number of users);
  • Eventide RPG and Guild Relations (not to be confused with Guild Roundtable) will be moved to fully separate sub-forums and will be cross-linked but not directly visible from TankSpot. This should help reduce clutter;
  • Creation of a Tabula Rasa webpage and community forum which will be on our reserved domain TRSpot.com;
  • Aggressive promotion and cross-promotion of the server community in the respective niche communities.
You will see some changes. A few links will be changed. By and large, though, it will have no impact on what you are doing except that more people will be exposed to each other in the communal areas such as the shoutbox. Even that will only be true if the additional projects are successful and promoted well -- which I'll need your support in doing.

Thanks,

Wow... and I thought my name was incredibly Irish :P

Anyway, great to hear about the upcoming improvements and I'm glad to be a (rather new) part of the community.

Sounds great Cider! I'll try to help with the RPG coding if I can, I'm just not fluent in PHP really so anything else you might need I can try to help with especially java stuff.

And marsellus can you *** out the language in your sig, the avatar title is okay I suppose but the bottom has the same effect without having to actually have the word there for all to see. Thanks! ;]

There's no such thing as evolution.
I believe in (un)intelligent design.
