I'm in a casual raiding guild, and we had gotten to Faction Champs on normal 10-man ToC and then wiped. On Sunday, we went back in, and it clicked. Full-clear. No one died on Beasts or Jaraxxus, Faction Champs took us three tries, Val'kyr three tries, and Anub we killed on our second attempt. Of course, that was on Normal, but it instilled confidence in people, and we will probably start running it more and getting ready for Heroic now.
Also got some boots to drop, and enough badges to buy the Blades of the Sable Cross, which were the two upgrades I needed the most. All in all a good night!

From a small guild we usaully need to pug at least 3 people. We did Onyxia 10man second attempt we started phase 3 with NO DPS just 2 tanks (myself included) and 2 druid heals. We almost wiped but we just went at it. Our Shaman self rezzed and started recording. Just watch the vid here

On Twins 25 HM, 30k Shield Slam. I was empowered but still it's so cool when you see that popup in your screen: http://www.quebecwow.org/ss/30k.jpg |

Been back to Wow for about 2-3 months now (left right when Sunwell came out), all my gear/progression is from being "The Pug with the lucky roll", and having people ask me to tank stuff for them whenever I log in.
MTing H10Totc, can MT H25Totc (just can't get into raids)
Stats (all unbuffed)
-39,859 HP (I'm an HP tank)
-24.91% Dodge
-20.91% Parry
-10% Block (yay pally )
-6% less chance to be hit
-4% Chance to hit (yay pally )
-11% Reduced Chance to be Dodged/Parried
-64% DR
Only thing I'm unhappy about is I have seen Juggz Vit once (but got trophy t9 instead), and I've never seen HoI :/

in the course of ~2 months going from a guild that was ranked 9th and 2958 US on the server to a guild that is the best on the server and got the US 32nd Tribute to mad skill.
also having two 10 man groups get tribute to insanity is amazing.

Had one of those moments last night that reminds you of just why you do what you do. We were undermanned (23 people) against Anub'arak-25 last night for what would be our guild's first kill of him on 25-man.
We had a Death Knight on Anub and myself and a Warrior on the adds. I knew I could hold two adds through Leeching Swarm but the Warrior was struggling so we marked an add and asked the DPS to burn it down - unfortunately, they were a little too slow and the Warrior went down - cue quick pickup of both adds from me. Skull went down en route to me, but I still had three of the adds on me, plus about 20 seconds of 10 stacks of the Scarab debuff.
The Warrior then got combat ressed (our last available) but says he never got the box appear on his screen.
I popped Bubble Wall once the new add was on me and then called for a Raid Wall from a Ret Paladin as soon as it wore off while I concentrated on burning down one of the adds myself as quickly as I could. Just as the add was getting to around 10% health and I was starting to believe I'd get it down to two and could hold them, I got an unlucky string of un-avoided hits and dipped down so low that Xperl flagged me as being at 0% health. A quick Lay on Hands later and I managed to finally get that third add down.
The guild then went on to kill him off for our first time. I felt like an absolute hero and was amazed at how quickly my subconscious worked my hands around the keyboard to mitigate the damage effectively and get that LoH off at just the right moment.
I know it's a small thing, but sometimes it's nice to be reminded of what it is that makes you feel like you're a great tank rather than just another competent one, y'know?

Very nice, Mert!
I had a similar (although not nearly as epic) experience a week or two ago - was helping my guild do a Naxx 25 run to help gear/train up some people that hadn't done it before. I was mainly dpsing in my offspec, but happened to be in my tank spec/gear for the Gluth fight to help the people in back kiting zombies. Both tanks on Gluth went down, but I was able to Charge across the room and grab aggro, keeping him from killing anyone, and we downed him. Obviously we've downed Gluth any number of times, but it had that same sense you were talking about, the feeling of "This is why I tank."
It was pretty gratifying.

That's awesome - I love these kinds of stories - as you say, the ones that remind you why you wanted to tank in the first place. It's always so epic to know that you personally turned a wipe into a boss kill.
We have a Fury Warrior in our guild who's also an Engineer (and a gnome, obviously) and I once saw him taunt the boss when the tanks were down, switch on his rocket boots and kite the guy for as long as he could, giving the DPS just long enough to burn him down. That was such a great thing to watch, even though I was eating floor at the time, haha. The cheering on Vent was insane. So yeah, more of these kinds of stories, people

Doing a 10man Algalon run for the second time ever.
Two new people in the group, first two wipes were to big bang and people not running fast enough. One of the new people was the second tank, so when he died it was game over.
3rd attempt and it was all going well until about 60%hp when the warrior tank took a massive hit and fell over. I quickly picked the boss up and continued solo tanking. Raid leader was about to call it a wipe when someone else just said to keep going as it was good practice.
50% he does a big bang, I survived by Ardent Defender. Stacks of the phase debuff are building up. Getting to 4! The boss is at 35% and I get phase shifted. Rogue picks up tanking with evasion and cloak of shadows, practically screaming at me to hurry up and taunt it.
3 seconds left on phase shift and I try to guess where the boss will be when I come out. As soon as I get phase shifted again I taunt and keep tanking. Adds start spawning and I'm frantically trying to pick them up.
10% and it's going well. 5%, 4 stacks of the debuff. 3% and everyones laughing.
Downed just before 5th stack!
Not too shabby for a solo tank/rogue evasion tank.

Been a while since I posted here: minor success for me since I've come back to the game: I've gone from mid-20k HP to 34k HP in a few weeks, powered JC from scratch to 420-something in one day, got the Hallowed the day Hallow's End launched (helped that I had the Sinister achieve last year). Got the Black Heart trinket in one of my first runs (no Peacekeepers nor shoulders yet), and earned about 300 achievement points in a few weeks!
All my efforts got me invited as OT for my first ToC-10, and just as RL says "Let's do this" over vent and runs to start, my computer crashed. Once I apply new thermal paste to the GPU, I am NOT going to be afraid to join this raiding guild as their only Prot Warrior and start some real raiding experience!

I'm new to tanking after healing as a tree for two years. So I rolled a DK to give it a shot instead of respeccing and gearing a bear (I like moonkin DPS too much, it's how I leveled to 70).
It's been a pretty frustrating journey. I'm late to doing this (just birthed the toon about 5 weeks ago) and I have a lot of bad habits from whack-a-mole healing and ranged caster DPS that I'm learning to overcome. But the most frustrating thing is being a new 80 in quest blues and a rep piece or two having to prove worth to a group full of T9.5 e-peen DPSers that just want to blast through UK to get some badges. And with all of the content available now, even getting a guild group together to gear up is tough, they're either running Onyxia or ToC or VoA or Ulduar (which I join on my druid, but that's a different story). So I've gotten into a few heroic PUGs here and there, about half as DPS once the group found out my gear level, the other half being good groups that helped me through.
In any case--enough backstory--I've been sort of at the threshold of just abandoning the tank dream when last night I got invited into a ToC regular group while flying around Icecrown. I'd tried tanking ToC once before and failed miserably, so I was a little nervous. We ended up downing the whole place with no wipes and everyone in the group gave me thumbs up for my performance, which was a nice change. Plus I got new gloves and pants which help out a lot.
This morning I get an invite for Heroic VH and I'm still riding high on the win from ToC. Same thing: good thumbs-ups from the group after we looted the head (it was the daily) and now I think i'm hooked for good.
I can only hope to get to the point where I'm working on some more complex raid fights like you guys are all talking about in here.
Baby steps...
