Not really a major thing for most people, but I got to OT Gruul to a t6 war. Was told after I had the gear to MT him and get into at least SSC/Tk. Nice to know I'm capable of more than where I'm at.

I successfully tanked one of the flames of azzinoth in P2 of the illidan fight, one of hardest jobs for tanks in the game.

I successfully maintanked Magtheridon last night. First try was a wipe due to a misclick, got him down 2nd try. So happy right now, Gruul and Mag now tanked successfully.

MT'n the guild first Hex Lord Kill last night.
And get this, we had the pally OT step out for his mage so we could get some more fire power on the boss. So I tanked hex lord and Slither till he was dead. Then duel tanked hex lord and the Elemental Stalker till he was dead to start off with, before we started in on hex lord.
God that was fun

I left a guild due to lack of structure and finally took the leap into a "hardcore" guild despite a great deal of fear and anxiety. Prior to joining I had only tanked all Za bosses, Hydross and Lurker outside of T4 content. In the past week and a half I have MT'ed the first 4 bosses in Hyjal, and the first boss in BT. OT'ed Sepremus and stood in on teron gorefiend for a few attempts.
I completed the mat grind for all my shadow resist gear and had it made within 3 days. I'm half way done with BT attunement chain for shadow resist neck piece.....AND I was awarded my T6 gloves in hyjal on Monday night (per DKP) after going in and clearing the first 4 bosses in a bit over 3 hours. Very rewarding week.

I had two successes last night. First – I cleared H.MgT for the first time, and got my hands on the Commendation! I finally bust 15K health in my standard tank gear, and almost 16K when I push stamina. Very happy with that.
Secondly, I was asked to a ZA PUG. Last time I was there I only saw the Bear boss and we wiped until trash respawned and called it. The healers had a hard time keeping me alive, I was pretty stoked to have a new trinket this time! So, summons inc, got buffed and started really quick and went straight to Eagle boss, a new one for me. I’m main tank apparently, we cleared the trash pretty damn quick, mana and I’m in there, ramming my shield in his face! The group did really well with the storms, we one-shotted him and got the timer to boot! The DPS warrior picked up a new chest piece and we all grabbed our badges and quickly headed to Bear trash, pulled, cleared and straight into another boss. We wiped on our first attempt, I think we were a bit behind the timer anyway and we probably rushed it a bit, but I was happy with my taunts and it was my first time tanking Bear phase. We rezzed, buffed and had another shot which was very smooth. I was laughing my ass off during bear phase ‘cause it looks so cool tanking a ferocious animal with lasers and DOTs and all kinds of crap flying around. I had one really close call with my health, popped a HS and Last Stand and made it through ok and got him down. There was much rejoicing, especially from our healer who got a new robe! We headed back to the first chest to see what dropped, and wouldn’t you know it, Pauldrons Of Stone Resolve. I’ve been dying for some real tank shoulders ever since I started Kara. I have the ones from Sethekk, but I use the S2 ones. I really want some proper shoulders with +def so I can have some more flexibility in my ring/trinket slots and these would have sorted me out nicely. So I roll... and I win... and... ... somebody else picks them up. There was no rejoicing I wanted to cry. lol. Anyway, soulbound is soulbound, nothing I could do. The group kinda fell apart on the way to Dragonhawk trash and we ended up calling it.
Anyway, I was stoked to have the chance to test my mettle against a hard-hitting post-T4 raid boss, and I did, and I won and it felt good to stand on their corpse(s)! A confidence boost to say the least. I’m looking forward to having another chance.

awesome to hear littleman. its great to make that big leap into the endgame | Thanks magnuss.. LOL it's a big step for sure.. always have been more of a hardcore type, just too chicken to make me the leap. It's working out quite well though I'm very satisfied.
Grats to you Spaz.. sucks to have a piece of gear ninjaed but it sounds like you reacted in a mature way and walked away with your head high. I'd spend a few days mad at the world I think..lol

Thanks LittleMan.
I had another success on the weekend (what a week), got invited to a Magtheridon PUG, started out as DPS as we had too many tanks, but we wiped @ 20% on the first attempt, lost the main tank, and I was asked to fill in!
First attempt, I got 1 shotted around 25% by a falling rock. I didn't see the debuff you apparently get. That really sucked coz we had it in the bag.
Second attempt, we lost a clicker about halfway through. That was a pretty quick (and funny to watch) wipe.
Third attempt I tanked the big ugly to the ground. Had one very close brush with death, my HP plummeted to about 50, popped everything and the Commendation kicked in and I was back at full health in seconds. It was quite exhilerating, my first 25-man raid, and definitely the biggest, ugliest thing I've tanked so far!
Some nice loot dropped, I passed on T4 chest because I have the badge one (it felt good to pass on it!) and I only wanted to roll on the 20 slot bag, but I rolled a 1 (lol)!!
Another minor success, I re-spec'd holy on my alt priest (level 62), and healed Slave Pens. I learned a few things, like use Fear Ward (!), and don't wait for damage before casting (2nd boss), and use group heals not individual heals when everyone is taking damage (last boss), but we had a really good time, and I got a nice healing mace.

Recently my old raid guild that was just stepping into BT fell apart, I ended up on Alleria (*waves at Xav*) in a guild working on Kalecgos last week.
This week they took me to BT and I tanked a Flame of Azzinoth for the first time having never seen the Illidan fight other then in Videos. We one shotted him!
I even got to dodge Eye beams...that was definitely one of the most intense tanking experiences I've had in TBC.

| | This past week has been pretty eventful: Our guild finally fully cleared Kara with me and another tank switching off MT/OTing. We’re both geared to MT Kara so we had fun switching back and forth. Last night, someone in guild was looking for people for Gruul (just for the Gruul fight), so I decided to give it a try (my first time going to a 25 man). Unfortunately the guild we were running with already had tanks, so I just went in DWing in prot spec (lol). 2 wipes later, Gruul was dead on the floor and the shield dropped! Too bad I lost the roll on it. During Gruul, I got a whisper from my friend that their guild needed a tank for ads for The Eye and asked if I was interested. So as soon as Gruul was downed, I was summoned to Tempest Keep for the Al’ar fight. At this point, I really did not know what was going to happen during the fight, as I was totally not prepared. So they gave me a brief run through and started. We managed to take it down after 1 wipe (their guild’s first kill) and the cape dropped. I didn’t even roll for the cape, since their MT needed it. I was ecstatic to get to experience 25 man raids, especially back to back. Going from T4 to T5 was pretty intense. It was a great learning experience. |

I feel so noob with all the people in BT, Sunwell etc....But these are mine, I tanked Maiden in Kara while the MT switched to heal gear (pally), and yesterday I did a clear of heroic ramps with a few wipes (the 4 casters and the one guy, and the final boss). Won a kings defender from chess, and the feltooth eviscerator for some sort of dps'ish stuff.
It's not as big of an achievement as some of the people here, but I'm very happy with how it happened |

It's not as big of an achievement as some of the people here, but I'm very happy with how it happened | Just because some of us got to experience what you just experienced before you did does not diminish what you have accomplished.
Don't let the WoW Forum trolls who decry anyone who is not clearing Sunwell as baddies devalue your achievement. At the end of the day it still takes work and dedication to step into any of the raid instances for the first time and be successful as a tank. And as has been said before, we're all newb at some point.
So enjoy your new sword and hopefully you have many more great experiences to share with us!
Gratz!
