| | | Looking for strategic advice
Hi,
Im an arms warrior and i'm looking for some strategic advice about how to play a warrior/dk/druid comp. I've found some videos in warmovies but they just show fights and dont exactly explain the strategy behind. The thing is we always find ourselves in some situations where it is difficult to decide which enemy to focus and this can prove to be fatal. Most problems come from warlock/shammy(ele mostly)/anything teams where each of those dpsers respectively can kill one of us by himself so pushing the warlock or the shaman for example is out of question. Heroism/Lust also makes things worse and its even harder to kill one of em without dying first. Generally we don't know if its better to push their healer or one of their dps or two of their dpses. I'd be really glad if someone could point me out somewhere where i can find tips and strats or even write his own here if he cba :P.
My armory link is The World of Warcraft Armory if you want to check it out. I know i haven't enchanted my weapon but i thought it would be a waste of mats to enchant it since its gonna change really soon but i proved myself wrong by keeping it for over 2 months now. Don't know if a zerker enchant is gonna make things much easier.

I think for this comp to work you got to have quick switches.
You mentioned Warlock/Shammy/X. Classic Wizard Cleave (ugh). I would plan to kill the WL.
I suggest splitting DPS, you and your DK each on one DPS, kill WL Pets, he may Fel-Dom and summon a new one, kill that one too. If the WL gets low call for a switch and have your partner help to nuke him, have your Druid cyclone the other DPS so he can't pressure/peel either of you.
You have to be sort of defensive, have your druid hump pillars if need be. Depending on the healer you could even run them oom if you healer is left alone behind his pillar he might be able to get some drinks in.
Hmm, yeah I'd try that. The weapon enchant can help you make that drop but you could just put something like 85 AP on there at first, should the strat work and you can make the push to 1800 that should be enough.

Thanks for the advice for the cleave team.
Another question that i have, which is not 100% strategy wise but didnt wanna make a new topic for it. I was using Edge of Ruin as mentioned above but today I was lucky and actually got my hands on the Sharpened Obsidian Edged Blade from Ony 25 (245ilvl sword). Its a huge upgrade from the axe and i was really excited about it thinking that with its help my arena ratings would jump up much easier. So i kept my ArP gear and just went and respecced to swords, thinking that grim toll and sword proc would make me a killing machine -_-. The result was a total failure i must say, we tried with a new team and it went like 1-6 or smth. The matches went on for more than 10 minutes i just felt i wasnt doing as much damage as i was before. So was it a mistake to respecc to swords with arp gear or was i unlucky-played really badly? The armory link is on the first post if you wanna check out my gear.

I believe you can check the amount of damage/healing done, check all your past matches and figure out an average dmg done per time (not exactly DPS I wouldn't say) and see if you're really doing worse

yeh you need to gem full str if you are going swords, keeping arp for axes and in some cases mace (just till you hit ~50% with stance and gear factored in, then go str).
i really dont like sword spec since its really rng favored, you cant put out alot of pressure unless you get a proc on it. i use maces because i will always have that extra 15% arp. plus, thats 15% arp i dont have to gem for so i can boost my ap by a ton by using str gems.

Probably gonna regem str until i get a pvp axe then. Too bad for my wallet
Another quick question i have is about bladestorm. I've heard many ppl complain o claim that bladestorm is the skill that will win the fight for a warrior. I hardly ever win cause of bladestorm so i suppose im doing something wrong. When is the best moment to use bladestorm? I know about the charge fear and storm one target without it getting healed but is there any other way of using it effectively since this one has failed or me many many times -_-

charge/intercept --> recklessness/sweeping strikes (if available) --> blenderstorm
you should try to set this up to coincide with some sort of cc your team has (fear/poly/hammer/silence/etc.) about the time the target you are going to burst down is around 40-50% with ms already up.
plus bs is 6 seconds you cannot be cc'd or immobilized. this can allow you to keep the pressure up when they really need to stop you in your tracks. a resto druid tries to root you and run away with only 15% life left? switch the blender on and break out of those roots and try to chop down that tree.
one time i took out an entire 3s team doing that combo above while they were all clumped up thanks to a warstomp at the very beginning of a fight.

| | | Gem ArP
You should still gem ArP in pretty much every situation. The only situation I can think of that you wouldn't want to gem ArP is if your gear is horrible. It is amazing how fast an Arp gemmed warrior can destroy a disc priest or rogue.

You sure about the ArP gemming?????? I was ready to go full strength today after what i've read here and what some guys told me on the server (mainly the best warrior in 3s on our server is full str with death's choice though). I know the debate between the str and ArP users will never end but i'm still confused myself O_o
Anyway, thanks for a the baldestorm advice. Another question that has popped up recently is: What do you do to stop spellcasting of heals or other spells? Classic thing is to charge/intercept the target but what do you do when those are on cd or you don't have time to get out of range in order to charge em? I know pummel/shieldbash is the option but how do you make it work? I can never get them in time since pummel requires stance change -> gcd and shield bash requires weapons change -> gcd too -_- and with the lag its almost impossible to get to interrupt em except if you are prepared for this...

I play a disc priest and very few warriors bother to pummel me and just sit right on top of me. Most healing casts are rather short so if you want to pummel someone I guess you'd have to switch to zerker stance and pummel the next cast you can get. Be careful though a switch to zerker stance might mean a switch onto you because of the 5% extra damage.
You can also fear to interrupt a cast but you might also use that for defensive moments, peeling opponents of someone in your team so it's a tough choice.
Also a bladestorm on top of me means I'll have to PainSupp which makes me an easy kill after wards. Let's just say I dislike fighting warriors |

/cast [equipped:Shields, stance:1/2] Shield Bash; [noequipped:Shields, stance:1/2] Berserker Stance; [stance: 3] Pummel
that macro will bash if you have a shield on in battle or def stance, and if you dont have a shield it will switch to zerk stance and pummel. thats what i use and yes, you have to be quick on it.
as for arp gemming with a sword i wouldn't do it. i would still wear an arp trinket, but i would gem full str, it will maximize your sword procs. i dont know why everyone wants to go swords though, it sucks imo.

Well he doesn't want to go swords it just seems like his new sword is tons better than his ToC axe.

When I'm in situations like this I like to go to SK100 and look at what other players are doing. Because queues are taking forever right now I took the time to do that. There are more sword players than I expected but I only looked at 10 for now.
Sword players gemming for ArP: 7
Sword players gemming for Str: 3
So yeah maybe that'll help make the decision.

Edgar is right my Ony 25 sword is defo better than the ToC axe so sticking to swords yes (the -5% crit hurt alot though).
Also i browsed AJ today for some time found a huge topic that the arp-str topic and there was a quote from Landsoul where he says that arp gemming remains better even with swords, here is the page: Str over ARP Users - Page 13 - Arena Junkies Forums
I don't say this is true or false you can look at the quote if you want. What i ended up with was this:
Gemming won't make a huge difference if you have the skills to get to high ranking. Gemming str over arp or vice versa won't give you a huge advantage either in arenas. So i've decided to stay arp with swords and just focus on improving my skills over improving my gear. You can go swords-arp swords-str or even axe-str (maces are....). If you have the skills for it, it will work either way i suppose.

That certainly is one way to look at it, 1800 isn't that hard once you are decently geared and the sword is pretty nice, so when you make the push to 1800 you can buy an axe/mace and don't need to re-gem everything which would be freaking expensive.
