Heroic Faction Champs 25

Hello all,

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. My guild downed H Faction Champs on 25 two weeks ago and then failed pretty hard last week. I could really use some advice.

It seems to me that locking down the melee dps for the champs is vital. I have heard that DK's and warriors are good at this. As a warrior tank, I can keep a melee dps tied up about 70-80% of the time. I think this is ok.

My question is, I want to give my DK's some advice about how to spec or what to use to help with the lockdowns. Are there any DK's out there that are good at this that could give me some advice/spec for our team?

Just a side, we kill one healer first, switch to the enhance shaman, the warrior, another healer and then the rogue. We had heard that the hunter was really bad, but that hasnt been our experience so far.

Can anyone help me out?

Both of our DKs go frost for this and spam Chains of Ice and Hungering Cold.

We've had success by 1) assigning a CC person to every single enemy mob (we usually assign our best players to CC. We have 5-6 healers with one only dispelling, 10-12 people on CC duty, 1 person totem stomping, and the rest on DPS), 2) trying to force the mobs to spread out as much as possible (e.g. by death gripping to opposite sides of the room), and 3) by assigning healers to /focus the most dangerous mobs (rogue, warrior, hunter). Also, we emphasize to our raiders that it is likely their own fault if they die and that everyone must be responsible for their own survival.

We also assign someone to totem stomp, if there's a shaman.

We usually put a prot warrior or DK on the rogue, a DK on the warrior, and someone with a lot of interrupts on the warlock. We have a warlock go affliction pvp and control a tree (if there is one) for the entire fight. A rogue locks down a pally healer for the entire fight. Another rogue locks down our first target (the priest or shaman healer).

After we kill a healer, we kill hunter --> rogue --> warrior --> lock. After one of their DPS goes down, the fight becomes easy.

Our kills take a long time (10-15 min). The fight's all about control and communication. For instance, the warlock on the tree should tell a DK to DG the tree out of the raid, if AoE is interrupting the warlock's CC rotation.

My group also had a lot of trouble until we tried killing the hunter 2nd. He's not as dangerous as their rogue or warrior, but he dies a lot faster than either.

You want to kill a healer first, but after that, pick one of their DPS that will go down quickly. Your choice of the enhance shaman makes sense, but he's also easily shutdown by the totem stomper, to a large degree. You might try killing something else 2nd and see if that doesn't take the pressure off.

One thing that made a huge difference to us is finding out that the healers AI is such that they tend to heal people or pets with the lowest health and as the pets start off with a lot less hp than the NPCs keeping some dots on them or alternatively a couple of hunter pets means that the healers will heal them meaning you can kill off extra dps. We go squishiest healer, all melee dps, hunter, other healers (banish&fear on druid and interupts on pally/shammy) and then the other casters. With forcing them to heal the pets you have a lot more leeway in not interupting or cc'ing the healers fully. [Example, the resto druid did 70% of his healing last night on pets ]

Also keep a central area with earthbing totems, slowing traps so that everyone knows what to run "through" when they get agro

Thanks for the tips all.... I will give them a try.

Are there any experienced DK's out there that can give me a quick hit on melee lockdown?

Cast List?

Where can I find a list of the instant and cast-time abilities that each of the Faction Champs can do in this 25-man heroic encounter?
