Algalon tanking

I was wondering if any Tankadin ever tried to tank Algalons Big Bang just using ardent defender?
I survived thanks to it Sapphrion's Frost Breath which seems to make a lot more damage than Big bang.

Our strat for 10 man was shadow priest using dispersion for 1st, I stayed out for the second (letting AD save me, no other CDs), and same spriest for the 3rd.

Keep in mind you'll be at 30% health when the healers are just coming out. I popped LoH right after the AD proc to bring me back up.

I did it a few times yeah, but seems better to just use Divine Protection, as said above, by using ardent defender you'll come out of it with 30% HP, but with divine protection, you should come out of it with 40-60. Plus you'll be able to withstand a death throughout the rest of the very chaotic-damage fight.

With Both our 10 and 25 man kill we use Ardent Defend for the first Big Bang, Some Outside CD For the second, And Ardent Defender for the third. there is a few seconds delay after big bang before Algalon re initiates where the tank can be topped off and also you can have your tank a bit farther away to buy even more time to be topped off if needed.

I'd definitely recommend the spriest for big bangs if possible. We had ours missing for a night & it made a massive difference in tanks being able to use their cd's when required instead of having to save them.

obviously it has been answered, but yes, AD certainly works.

i tank algalon25 as a druid, and i stay up top with guardian spirits. we run 2 holy priests. i've also done it with a pain suppression but that uses my own CD to ensure im alive.

i taunt at 3 debuffs on the first tank. on a big bang, i close to portals. when the raid comes back up, algalon is on me. i am always at the far outer edge. the first tank taunts back after alglaon runs to me, to give healers a sec to get positioned and heal him. i never get hit.

So you can't use your immunity bubble for big bang, correct?

Let's say you mess up towards the end of the fight and run out of cooldowns. Can you have someone stay out and sacrifice themselves to the Big Bang to keep him from wiping the raid?

I'll just re-iterate how it's way more helpful having tanks with cooldowns for the rest of the fight rather than blowing them for the big bang.

Sadly we didn't have that option and on our wipe nights there were many occasions where I could have benefitted from having my CDs available.
