Source: Brittmari "Ok so Why Dont I make every Priest I have Go Disc? well, simple question really it cripples both of them to use more than one of them.
You see the weakened soul debuff applied by PW:S is the bane of the disc priests ability to use his key abilities including of course PW:S again on the same player, but his ability to know where he can proc a Borrowed Time."
As long as you're organized about your assignments, I don't see any reason not to have 2 Disc Priests in a raid. Unless I'm doing something seriously wrong, it's just not possible to shield the whole raid before some boss abilities (Frozen Blows, e.g.). Even 3 would not be overkill in some situations--think phase 3 of Anub'arak Heroic. I wouldn't tell all or any of my priests to change spec, but this game is adaptable enough where if we had 3 strong Disc priests available and no Holy, I'd take the 3 and work out assignments where they weren't overlapping. |
PW:s and divine aegis easily account for 40-60% of a disc priests healing output shielding the raid has its limitations not everyone takes extreme damage and those that dont get shielded can be easily healed, where as having disc priests even with set assignments would limit the effectiveness due to shields innate CD yes you can't shield a full raid in 30 seconds but alot of the time its the same people taking damage i.e. the tank and the melee.
adding a second disc priest is like adding a wheel to a car aka a spare part incase yours breaks...
As disc raid heal spam shield style: I will spec 70% of my time on the raid 10% foccussing on the tanks health and the other switching to the tank or a low health target...
