What mod is it that gives you the black background behind your buttons and chat and map? and what is the setting on that?

I like to keep it simple. I've tried grid/healbot/clique addons and found them to be too annoying and confusing to setup and use. I just don't have the skill to handle that much addon! But if you do, more power to you

I have four addons for raiding and a bunch of mouseover macros:
NUI+ (UI and raidframes)
DBM (may switch to BW) for boss fights/timers
Xperl (for JUST my character's buffs and Debuffs, I keep those enlarged since nui+ has very small ones.
PoM tracker (priest)

Macros: /cast [target=mouseover] Flash Heal (or whatever spell)

All major spells are on my number bar 1-8 and if the fight requires a ton of healing and moving I have Q,E,F set for my thre most popular heals.

NUI will show you everything you need:
if the player is in or out of range
debuffs and marks on players
heals/hots on a player
players with threat or dmg being done
And more...

Plus my screen is free and clear to see blue lazer beams inching towards me or that random guy about to whirlwind into my path XD

Lovin the bottom of your UI.

Grid in the bottom part of your screen, just below your character, configured properly (which takes a lot of time), is the gold standard for healing UI's

My opinion anyway.

I used target=mouseover, exists macros for all my healing spells.
Some people prefer the Clique approach.

My healing UI

screenshot

That is my current UI. And it gets the job done; however drives me crazy. The addons I have running that you can see are:
Dominos
Decursive
Grid
Omen threat
Recount
SexyMap

The other addons running:
Parrot
Carbonite
Atlas Loot Enhanced
DBM
Boss tactics
Rating buster
Gatherer
Altoholic
WIM
Smart Res
Visual Heal

For a ten man my UI isn't too bad; however, my guild has been pulling me into 25 Ulduar and my screen is just a complete mess then! I've tried pitbull and xperl and they make no sense to me and are just a bigger mess and headache. I like this UI. It is spartanUI. I'm also looking for the addon that displays at the top of you screen what your ms/fps is and armor durability, among other little tid bit of information.

I have come to terms with the fact I will never be completely happy with my UI but here is my updated screen... I loved the look of my NUI addon, but it slowed my computer down way too much in 25mans. Now if I could just afford a wide screen monitor... *sigh*

I'm using:
HideBlizzard
PoMTracker
Vuhdo (raid frames for click-casting and mouse-over macros)
Dominos (action bars, most are faded out until I put my mouse over them)
SurgeTracker (dings and shows an icon on my screen if I have a proc of serendipity, surge of light, or holy concentration)
HUD3
DBM
CBH Viewpoint (Caly posted it, gives you the black at the bottom, but with fading action bars I barely need it.)

I use Xperl + Clique. My computer sucks and that combo makes it really easy on the CPU. And it's very effective also.

Don't forget Decursive for your dispel needs!

For those healers out there that use healbot and are priests how do you go about using CoH?

Grid/Clique

I used Healbot before, but now I use grid/clique even though it did tale a while to set up. I have a five button mouse along with the shift and control key, I am able to have 15 abilities accessible just clicking the grid. I don't need another addon to debuff.

This is mine, it's specifically made for healing but I kept in mind that I wanted it adaptable to other uses too - so it's specialized, but not to the point of being broken for other use.
Though admittingly that's mostly an issue in some DPS UIs since they fore-go raidframes due to just not needing them.

Chief among it's ideas is using the bar with the abilities as a "separator", cutting the fight-important unitframes / 3D graphics / raidframes / bossmods from the social chatwindows.
The reason there are two is entirely because AbA can be an extremely busy chatting guild with a lot of jokes and puns in guildchat and talk I just don't wanna miss, hence using a separate and large chatwindow for guildtalk alone.

From that idea I further evolved the idea to split the screen into zones, instead of doing an interface mirrored around the center. The castbar is huge and runs from the right end of the MT frames (oRA2) to the left of the raidframes (Grid), above it are ShieldsUp and target buff/debuff bars. This being between the MTs and the Raidframes puts everything together well, while the target unitframes is non-centered below the castbar - it all works together to put things for "Keep stuff alive" to the bottom right of my character.
"Stay alive" is to the left of it, on the flipside - that's where Bossmod bars are. This also keeps the bossclutter off my raidframes, while many opt to want that I found it distracting once I did a fight more than 2-3 times.

In the corners are buffs/debuffs on myself (thought I can selectively put some debuffs or buffs on small stacks above the Quartz bar if I want to, I use that on my DK tank for some timers), and threatmeter (for raidleading purposes).

It's often been called confusing, but it grew like this and now works very well, especially when it comes to actually being able to watch the fight on top of the raidframes.

I use grid with mouse over macros. With grid I can easily work out timers without using tons of addons. I also pick mouse over macros over clique because its just plain simple. I try and keep everything worth monitoring in the middle of the screen because the human eyes are naturally drawn to the middle. This allows faster reaction time.

I really like the clear screen, cluttered addons ruin your view and keep you monitoring the wrong things at the wrong time. My grid doesnt normally look like that, it doesnt have a backround. I just showed the backround so you could see that I have grid centered between my T and ToT frame.

My focus is located at the lower left hand corner.

My ui

My ui which has taken me various different setups to get to. I like this setup because it allows me to be aware of my surroundings as well as my main healing targets

Addons:
Pitbull (player / target / focus frames, etc)
Bartender (bars, etc)
Sexymap
Recount
Omen
DBM
SCT
Forte cooldown counter
Grid
ECB cast bar
Sunnart (for aesthetics)

I hope this helps anyone with their ui choices

I use a number of things to streamline my UI when it comes to healing.

I feel it looks very clean and elegant, for healing I use Grid and Clique. I was originally a healbot user, but after I sat down and said "Before I do ANY instances today, I'm going to setup grid" I fell in love with it. I have it set to where it will expand to 25 frames in a 5x5 pattern very similar to the 5x2 it's set at now. I've actually moved my health and mana numbers since this screen was capped but I'm at work and don't actually have access to my new screens yet.

Mods I use to Achieve this Interface
Bartender 4 - I use this for all my bar setups. In different forms/classes I'll have an additional bar from the ones displayed floating out in my non-blackened display with important spells (i.e. Blink, Ice Block, Evocation, Frost Nova on my mage.) For the bottom bars I have them at a 0.75 scale to fit into the black bars.
CBH Viewport - This is the addon that causes those black bars on the top and bottom of my screen. Yes the addon is "out of date" but it doesn't need to be upgraded patch to patch. I have it set at 140px top and bottom bars with a 1280x800 resolution. These letterboxes ACTUALLY cause my view to get wider and is advantageous as I can see in PvE and PvP when an enemy is coming or when someone's under attack without panning my camera around the BG/Raid.
Grid - I use Grid to monitor HoT Status (Lower Left and Right dots on the names,) aggro, Poison/Curses, and health bars. Since I'm only posting what I use to alter the LOOK, I will go ahead and tell you that I use Clique to have click-to-cast spells linked to my mouse when hovered over Grid.
MikScrollingBattleText - Simply put it has a much more streamlined feel than the blizzard UI's text.
Omen - On my Healer this is mainly a space filler to make my letterboxes feel a little less empty, though I do monitor threat on bosses to make sure I'm not going to have to Nature's Swiftness/Healing Touch some unsuspecting Mage.
Pitbull - My frames mod. I never display party or raid outside of Grid, but I do put my target and target's target up on the top part of my screen just below the letterbox and just above my Decursive. .
Prat - This is my chat box mod that puts the input box above my chat box, allows me to set it further into the letterboxes.
Quartz - A castbar mod that I have placed above my target (for me) and my target's target (for my target) though I didn't get any screens of it in use.
Recount - Everyone should have an idea what this is. By the way, I have it set to healing done because I scroll between that, action log, and overhealing done (I'm used to be healing lead/2nd heals and HAVING to watch this, it's just habit) to assess both my own and other individuals healing on a personal basis.
SatrinaBuffFrame - If you look in both screen shots in the top letterboxing, you can see where I display my Buffs (right side near minimap) and debuffs (In the second snap, left side opposite of buffs)
Satrina's Digits - Smack in the top middle I have my health and Mana numbers displayed. I find it much easier to parse the data from numbers than from bars. Since taking these shots I've changed these numbers to displaying percentages and being stacked on top of one another closer to the debuffs side of the screen.
Squeenix - Yeah my mini map is square.

Ha, you had to go look didn't you? I've never been fond of the mini map, I like corners and such, much more pleasing to my eyes, this is a PURELY COSMETIC decision, and it allows me to move the mini-map to anywhere I'd like.

I found Dominos and Vuhdo to be a bit more user friendly when it comes to set up and they do the same jobs as pitbull and grid. They both start out very basic and you can then tailor them to what you want. I also found in raids they do not slow down my computer as much. Just a suggestion

I couldnt figure out dominos for the life of me lol... for some reason i couldnt get them to work when i switched inbetween healing and boomkin and it drove me nuts so i used bartender and that works out a heckof a lot better for my forms lol...

and i figured out pitbull 4.0 so much easier than 3.0 and grid was also worked out as well i hope it goes ok for the maly raid tonight

this is for my resto form and when i switch into boom all the resto spells go into the boomkin spells i havent tried fighting or anything or healing for that matter so maly 25 will be the test
