What OS do you use to play WoW?

If other, please let us know.

I use Vista 64 at home and either Vista 32 or using Wine on Linux on my laptop.

Probably should have split W7-32 and W7-64, but meh.

x86 is the 32 bit instruction set architecture for Intel processors. It gets its name from the naming convention Intel used for its early processors starting with the 8086. x86 was originally 16 bit, but the word size was doubled with the introduction of the 80386 (i386) chip in the mid eighties..I can't remember exactly what year.

Also, x64 is actually x86-64.

I love it compared to Vista. I really haven't seen too many people not like Windows 7.

Are you guys using the latest RC? Someone told me there's a memory leak...any truth to that?

Rokbal- I'm running on the official release version on my main PC along with my netbook. Microsoft just released it to MSDN & Technet subscribers a couple of days ago.

Holyjebus-Preorders were available a while ago for a discounted price however I'm almost positive that offer has expired. The main difference between 32bit and 64bit is that 32bit OS's are limited to addressing 4gb (2^32) of memory total while 64bit OS's are capable of addressing much larger amounts of memory I believe somewhere around 16 terabytes (2^64).

Windows 7 64bit versions have the following memory caps in place:
  • Starter: 8GB
  • Home Basic: 8GB
  • Home Premium: 16GB
  • Professional: 192GB
  • Enterprise: 192GB
  • Ultimate: 192GB

cheers mate, like i said in another post im over seas atm with the army so i have no idea whats going on back home and when i call the wife i cant ask about OS or ill get bitten lol

so the only benefit is the memory cap ? my pc has 4g ram

also is it true that vista only recognize 2g ? and my dual gfx card is useless because of vista 32-bit ? or my mates dont have a clue ?

Here's a comparison chart of 32bit vs 64bit: Comparison 64bit vs 32bit - Waldo's Blog <br /> Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Vista can recognize up to 4gb of memory total which is including video card memory. I'm not sure how Windows divides up the memory when you are over the 4gb limit. From my own personal experience I've seen systems with 4gb of ram and a 512mb video card and windows allocates 3.5gb of ram while leaving the missing .5gb for the video card to use.

Make a huge jump go from Vista 32 to Win7-64.

Then go BACK to the Vista32 install and you'll really feel it incredibly slow, especially if you have a fair bit of RAM on your gfx card.
