You'd be surprised how much an increase in AP truly helps out your damage output while leveling. If you had a gem choice in your level 70 gear, to put a +38str gem in it or an on proc 3% health regen gem. which would you choose?

Since Force of the Hippogryph is now One-Hand you'll probably want to change it to OH and Thrash Blade to MH.

Any chance of an update after the 3.0 patch. | I have been leveling my warrior from a few days ago, Arms speced as i love bleed effects and excited with the new talent "Taste of Blood" have to say as the OP am doing average 100 dps with the 2H Axe level 27 from RFK with Fiery enchant(he had Crusader in his test) this is done at level 34 with lot of greens.
Just as a side note, at level 30 equiped the 1h Axe level 30 from last boss of RFK and the 1h Axe in off hand from Duskwood's quest wich gives critical rating(both blues) and was doin 20 dps less than when wieldin the 2h Axe, blame the spec.
Some times burn targets in 2 swings, but sometimes in 4 swings all depends on Taste of Blood's Overpower proc.
I have Improved Charge and Rend Glyph's(way Rend one? no other availeable at my server = /), open with Heroic Strike, cast Charge+Rend then Overpower(if proced).
I should tray DualW Fury's spec, but feels easier to get 1 good weapon than to get 2 good weapons, even cheaper enchant only 1 than 2 xD. Armory |

My daughter has a level 38 Arms warrior. She reinforced that she was pretty smart by figuring out how to make a pretty nice spec without my input, just from what she's watched me do for a few years, and asking questions.
She loves the rend-for-overpower talent, and the parry-for-overpower glyph.

I think you certainly consider Prot Warrior as of 3.0+ too - I've enjoyed it since mid40s

I leveled 60-70 and 70-80 as prot, and yes it got a lot more enjoyable, but killing stuff faster is still better than living longer, if not by far any more. The fastest way to level will probably stay an offensive build, but if you happen to like backhanding shields across faces for big numbers, go for it |

Man, all the work into this guide and warrior leveling needs to be "re-demystified."
I've been switching things around, and while only level 19 (can't even dual-wield yet), all the specs seem so ... viable. In fact, from when you get revenge until you get dual-wield (and maybe even beyond, we shall see), it's FAR and above better to use 1h+shield in defensive than a 2her in battle. Way less downtime, easier to deal with adds, and if you fight 2-3 mobs at once, even kills faster due to revenge procs (revenge is wicked nasty), not to mention spreading out thunderclap damage, which is very good even on a single target (tclap + white hit = heroic strike, roughly, plus you still get rage gen with the tclap + white hit).
I'll of course be trying out dual-wield when I get it, but as of right now, I can't tell which style has the overall leveling advantage. And who knows, down the road maybe Arms spec in defensive stance with 1h+shield will be the way to go with spammable revenge, .5 sec slam, and baseline shield slam (was it always baseline?).
The most frustrating part of leveling a low-mid level warrior is the lack of clarity on optimal leveling spec -_^ Curse my min-maxing tendencies! The ambiguity is destroying my sanity!

| | | Awesome guide, defunct links
Hi Mordok,
Great post on warrior leveling. The most informative guide I've ever read.
I tried the link to the talent build for DW Fury and it doesn't work.
Would you mind linking me to the talent build in your guide please?
Thanks so much,
Hostyle

Post 3.0, Arms is the new leveling spec--it goes with the Whirlwind Axe, it doesn't penalize you horrendously for the nonexistent +hit on your leveling gear, it allows you to pull multiple mobs and just chain-Overpower them all to death, and finally, it's great for tanking lowbie instances since you can just spam Revenge due to that cooldown talent.
Arms for leveling, Fury for endgame DPS, and Prot for endgame tanking.

Just to let you know, all of the links to talent specs will not work since the WOTLK updates. I would recommend saving all future talent specs to a PDF file or a summary text file so that any future changes to WoWHead talent calculator will not break your links. That way, readers will see where you put the points and then compare them to the new talent calculator.
Incidentally, this guide has been 'very' helpful to this noob warrior!
