I just went and tested my DPS on a dummy, I'm pulling around 3400 dps.
My stats are...
70 haste
3213 AP
317 Hit
31.80 Crit
15 Expertise
60% ArP
I'm using the rotation Rend>Execute>Overpower>Mortal Strike>Sunder>Slam
My guild doesn't brink Prot warriors, so the DPS warriors are stuck sundering.
This is also popping my usable trinket every cooldown for an extra 670 attack power.
Also as for my timing, I throw up Battle Shout right before I start, and I go until the last rend tick once my Battle Shout falls off. So about 5 min.
Hope this helps out for DPS comparison. | wrong rotation ! why execute before overpower / mortal strike?
rend > ms > overpower(u have6sec) > execute > slam
you hit rating is also to high (263 need only)
60% arp is to much if u wear grimtroll or mjolnir !! u need only 40,4% from gear (without b-stance)

Execute hits harder than MS and overpower which means I prioritize it first. Also there is the fact that sudden death can proc off of itself allowing you to chain your executes. Execute should always be prioritized before overpower and MS.
As for the hit, I know I am overcapped. I recently got a new weapon that has a massive amount of hit on it, and I will be replacing my hit whenever gear becomes available. I currently only have 3 BiS pieces(8.5 helm/head, and 10man hardmode hodir bracers.)
And no I do not have a Grim Troll, or a runestone, but the SEP value of ArP will still be >1 if I do get my runestone soon.

If he's sustaining 3400dps on the test dummy he must be doing something right I agree with #1 rend and #2 execute, not sure whether MS or overpower is #3/#4 though. I personally do rend > execute > overpower > MS though.

I also sit around the 3.5k DPS mark as arms on the target dummies (not the boss level dummy as it's always below 20% HP gah!)and imo even though MS will have a higher crit chance, overpower would still be the priority for me personally. The crit chance on Overpower is just too higher to pass up.

I did approx. 3400-3500 (sometimes more) on a target dummy with out any Conq. gear. I was wearing 2 piece Valarous (Head & Shoulders), Chestguard of the Recluse, and Frosted Adriot Handguards.
I was able to do 7800+ DPS on XT. WWS Loading... (Done while in the gear listed above).
Don't trust target dummies for parsing your DPS. The only time I use them is to test different gear set ups.
PS - My Priority for DPS: Rend > Execute > OP > MS. I generally let Rend fall off and refresh immediately or if I have nothing on GCD and the Rend timer is low I refresh. I dont't get over technical about the rotation (like if there is less then a specific time left on some ability then I dont Slam or I do Slam). I just use each ability as they are ready.

I was wondering what the cap is for expertise and ArP on base gear before geming.
Also i wwas told by a nother warrior to just gem straight Str. does this work for arms or should i have a mix of Str and ArP.

once you reach 30% innate ArP without gemming and not including battle stance/sunders, then gemming ArP will start to show higher gains for your dps than Str will.
The cap for expertise is 18 skill if you get 2/2 Weapon mastery. (You need to reach 4.5% dodge reduction)

Im sitting at 25 expertise how can i drop that to a reasonable amount for arms.
Also should i be looking for more ArP gear over crit or haste gear

other than find pieces of gear that are upgrades and don't have expertise on them, there isn't much you CAN do about having 25 expertise. ONe benefit having that much though is that you don't need to use as many points in weapon mastery (-2% chance to dodge), you can take 1 point of that out and still be overcapped, or take both points out and only have a .25% chance to dodge. Then with those 2 talents put em somewhere else that might help you dps harder?

If i am right you take your armor pen value off of the new total after sunders applied. So if the boss has 20000 armor you would take te 30% off of 16000. So it would be 11200 in comparison to 14000.
I gem for ArP as Arms and Str as fury. But I do not have runestone or toll so the ArP gain is veyr nice.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying Tarigar, I said specifically that 30% innate ArP without gemming, without battle stance modifier, and without sunders. That means 30% just from gear alone means gemming for ArP will begin to help.

I guess I don't see the difference in accounting with or without sunders.

Well it's because if you just say 30%.
People will begin to ask, is that like... WITH sunders? cuz naked, I have 10% from bstance, and 20% from 5 sunders, so I'm good to go right?!?!!?!!
RIGHT?!?!?! ARP IS THE BEST STAT EVAR STACK STACK STACK!
You have to be very specific when talking about stat stacking because if people misinterpret you, it leads to a lot of "rework" later explaining what you "really" meant.

For those of us at 29% arp from gear alone (right on the edge) and without grim toll or molj would gemming arp or str be better?
Arms DPS is my off spec and I decided to give arp a try last night and re-gemmed. Previously I was doing 3k-3.3k dps on the Boss Target (no sunders) and after regemming arp dropped down to around 2.8k
A couple concerns, first off I switched my chest to an ilvl 226 piece with arp but in the process I drop low on hit (down to 187 with arp gems). I will likely buy a new belt off the vendor tonight which should help (replacing my terrid verdungo's ilvl 200 belt with belt of the singing blade) taking me back up to around 236 hit.
Should I return to STR until I get some more better off-spec DPS gear or is 29arp from gear, 43arp gemmed worthwhile? I suppose that would be 53arp counting arms stance.
3374 ap
34.83 crit
236 hit
27 expertise (High enough that I don't put points into weapon mastery)
Not sure if str vs arp shows better or worse on the stupid boss dummy. I rarely DPS as I am our MT and want to do as much as possible when I do need to switch and help output damage.

Coming from a MT in a guild as well.. I would think Fury would be a more legit off-spec from the simple matter of interrupts, maintaining sunders, imp demo, commanding ect.. if you are forfeiting your MT for a non-war tank.
I am sure you have another fury warrior in raid but it would be less for him/her to worry about while you can continue to contribute to the raid and put up some numbers.
Curious what others use as their off spec if they don't use two prot specs.

We have a mediocre geared Fury warrior that doesn't damage our DPS much if he puts out things such as sunder & shouts. Seems like more of a benefit to go arms as I am used to using something on every GCD from being prot and we don't have any arms warriors.

Sounds like a bad fury warrior then. Sunders really messes with an Arms rotation.

What? I was saying that the fury warrior would be the one putting out sunders because I know it messes with an Arms rotation. He has free GCDs to spare as fury.
EDIT: My real question is about the arp vs str issue not group composition lawl
EDIT2: I Guess another big question is whether people are testing on the Boss dummy or the other ones? That would make a big difference.

I'd have to plug it into a spreadsheet to be sure squirrel, not having a arp trinket kinda throws me off. I remember reading that if you HAVE the trinket, it greatly lowers how much ArP you need before you start gemming for it, but likewise, you have a much lower cap because of wasted proc ArP.... but I don't remember if that affected the 30%.....
