Arms Warrior - Stats, Crit and Str!

Hi there,

I was wondering at which point I should stop gemming for crit, and focus more on Str.

Thanks.

From the various posts I read here and some other places, at 35 % unbuffed in Battle Stance you should be fine.

But does that mean you should stop? I wonder if going for STR after 35% crit is better than going for more crit. Any thoughts on this?

I dont know what the math says. I generally put crit gems in yellow slots, red game in red slots and purple gems in blue slots. Somehow it works out

I raid unbuffed 41% crit 3500 ap in battle stance and I do ok on the meters.

To stop ?

No, definitely no, follow this : "get the more bang for your bucks"

if some piece that you can socket offer STR / CRT , you should then match the socket color, if not then you go for STR, if you have the gems.

If you have the choice of 2 gems, on that gives you 14 "stats points" versus 16, go with the 16.

See where I'm going with this ?

Well does anyone know if Sudden Death has an internal cd? Since it can proc of crits it would be assumed more crits equals more procs.

After you can theoretically have 100% uptime on enrage/trauma all your really doing is increasing sudden death dps. right?

No Internal CD (yet)

I have seen one occurrence of 6 back to back SD procs on a boss fight.

edit : I say yet because once arms dps is fixed (if it ever is, PvP wise) I expect that some QQ will lead to SD having an internal CD

I suppose the better question I should of asked is at which point does, if ever that slam, overpower, and mortal strike beat execute dmg

Execute dmg formula is 1456+AP*0.2+1520 with max 30 rage and glyph of execute

Slam, Overpower, and Mortal strike are based on weapon damage, (Weapon DPS + AP/14) * Weapon Speed, slam adds 250, mortal strike 380 and talented for 10% more damage.

Using Betrayer of humanity, 222.6 dps 3.40 speed, the above formula stated for weapon damage and simplifying the equations...

2976+AP*0.2 execute
1006.84 + .243AP slam
1107.52 + .267AP mortal strike
756.84 + .243AP overpower

Now if I did my simple alegbra right, Overpower dps will overcome execute dps around 51.6k ap, slam around 45.8k ap, and mortal strike around 25.8k ap. This may change with higher content and superior weapon dps(though doubtful), but currently execute dps will always do more damage than any other ability so it would be logical to assume stacking as much crit as possible to make it proc more is the best way to improve dps.

The next argument would be at what point is ap more beneficial to execute dps rather than more crit. Which i might do at a later point but its 4am

I don't want to ruin everybody's day but :

"Sudden Death Rank 3
Your melee hits have a 9% chance of allowing the use of Execute regardless of the target's health state. This Excute only uses up to 30 total rage. In addition, you keep at least 10 rage after using Execute."

Sudden Death hasn't been based on crits since quite a few months. That being said, I would recommend aiming towards 45%to50% raid buffed crit, since you want your Overpower to crit most of the time, or else it's pretty much a waste.

35 % crit unbuffed means around 43 % crit raid buffed

OP has an additional 50 % chance to crit, which in total leads around 93 %

93 % is close to "most of of the time" for me :-P

Crit and str

Im gemmed all +20str and iv still got 36.5% crit unbuffed and 4.3k ap unbuffed.. 5.1k self buffed.. so i dont think its too necessary to gem crit
