That's excellent Khung! Like Kaze said, once you've gotten enough hit, focus on stacking STR, then AP, then crit. From what I've seen, that will definitely do more to boost your dps than stacking more crit/hit. | My experience is that if your prot specced and because you dont have the benefits of the other trees abilities u benefit more from crit>arp>hit-exp>haste>str>ap. This because of our main abilities are our revenge,HS and devastate and costs relativeley little rage. I use drdamage and the highest costs for more dmg is AP(str). I have about 30% crit, 13/18 expertise skill 120 hit 1300 ap but with various trinkets/buffs I can get about 1800 ap (if they procs). The only ability that benfits more from AP is Whirlwind but barley use it since berserker only offers that and HS/Slam (mobs <20% execute in berserker). I chucked haste in there because of rage generation (worked wonders for mine). AP is bonus but you utilise the ap gained better with getting crit and hit. I do about 500dps in low rage situations, chucked about 650 dps on Aran but I had worse stats then (and I still carry a few greens). This is kind of unconventional but my believes is that were a diffrent tree than the others and therefore stats wont affect us as the others, since we dont/cant use the same abilites.
Just to mention, I just picked up to improve my gear. I just grabbed the things that were availible, so my dps gear is a bit random (a few int pieces, in a range of BT items and green quest rewards). Ill come up with a few logs when availible.

Yeah I'm only at 1850 and I'm in T5 DPS gear. Then again, I've gotten up to a good deal of ArP and crit.
My advice for people who are out of tanking badge gear is to save badges for the fist weapons. They're like BT weapons! I've actually done competitive DPS in a 5-man with my gear (prot spec, not tanking. Makes me feel like a feral).
Edit: Oh, that is before Shout.

u benefit more from crit>arp>hit-exp>haste>str>ap. | I don't really have access to melee dps gear right now (other than with badges, which I need for my tank set) that has armor penetration or haste, though I can believe what you're saying about them being better than strength and AP. I'm a little skeptical on stacking crit over str; as prot, we don't have flurry for increased haste after a crit, nor do we have impale for increased crit damage. I'm sadly too lazy to do the math, but I recently regemmed and shifted gear a little from being a bit crit & hit heavy to being more str-heavy and have seen a nice improvement on boss battles. Though I do miss the strings of random big numbers when soloing!
Even in blues with just a couple of purple weapons, I was at 500-550 dps for most of gruul (my guild's MT is much better geared, and we have a bear for OT duty) until I neglected a cave-in around growth 13 and ate some floor. And that's taking into account the knockback & lost time for shatter. I'd definitely play around before heavily stacking crit.

It calculates for your abilites what give the most dps/dmg from each stat.

I love most of the gear you have chosen. But a few changes or additions i would add are, one for the trinket Shard of Contempt. the proc rate for it is really good and an extra 230ap is nothing to dismiss. Plus it has 44 expertise and if you have the talent Defiance, that will give you 6 expertise putting you at 17 expertise rating. I noticed a huge drop in dodge and parry from the mobs.
Second i would add the Amani Mask of Death. It has really high str, stam and hit. plus 3 sockets. and with the epic gems being able to be bought for badges this is a huge upgrade for most. I believe it is just as good for PVE DPS as a T5 helm for wars. The T5 helm would most likely be an upgrade over the Amani Mask of Death, but you would not replace it until then.
Third, I found that using DPS weapons like that of the Talon of Azshara will make for even better dps. I would go with the Vanir's Right Fist of Brutality and Vanir's Left Fist of Brutality.
I have done a lot of testing with having fast MH / fast OH, slow MH / fast OH, and Slow MH / slow OH, and I find that the Slow MH /slow OH will do the most damage and will keep me in enough rage to spam Devaste and WW and throw in HS when need. Now my testing may be off due to the fact that with my DPS gear i have over 2k AP unbuffed and my weapons did have different dps to them but the amount of rage i was getting from attacks was what I was going for. Even though i could spam devastate and WW it seem like i was not getting enough rage. or at least the amount of rage i thought i should be getting.
Not really sure if this will help you but it is what seems to work for me when i have to DPS on some bosses as well. With full raid buffs i have been over 700 DPS on bosses. Vashj is one where i get to do nothing but DPS sense i do a lot of MT and OT. it just depends on what the raid needs.

Pink, I completely agree with your gear choices and am actually jealous of the dps gear you have access to! However, for the gear guide itself, I'm trying to just list pieces that casual or newly-ding'd-70 warrior can pick up for their first dual wield devastate set. For most of the target audience (which includes myself <grin>), we don't even have the badges to get the 2.4 tank legs, much less a pair of weapons or a helm.
I'm glad to hear how well it works for you on Vashj! I'm sort of stuck around 550 or so on Gruul, and am trying to find things I can pick up on the cheap to pop over 600 or so, but without going for either PvP or PvE badge gear, I think that's a bit off for me.

Thanks for such a great guide. My only suggestion is that [item]Adamantite Plate Bracers[/item] are readily available at the AH on our server and might be slightly better than [item]Sha'tari Wrought Armguards[/item].

Thanks so much for this Post. As a Lvl 70 Prot (13/5/43) Orc Warrior, I have been searching for ages, looking for that "DPS Set". I'm sometimes OT in Kara and havta put on the "DPS Set" to kill adds. Now I now where to grind/craft/quest etc, to get my 2nd set.
Its a bit of a mindset change to now be focussing on Strength.
Thanks again.

Is there a suggested waist item? Turns out I had a lot of these item's already and will fill in some holes I have in the set.
How does the Merc Gladiator's items fit in? I've got the MG Quickblade for off hand and will likely get MG Slicer for MH. I'm not opposed to BG'ing for some of the MG armor pieces (I use the S1 shoulders currently in my tank set) Right now, I'm only at ~1300 unbuffed and hit only 122. I'd like to increase both.
Great thread!

The best waist item to get, if you can afford it, is [item]Red Belt of Battle[/item]. Barring that, a good one to pick up if you're pvping would be the Vindicator's or Guardian's belt.
And Merc Gladiator's weapons are decent if you don't have any other options for dps weapons.

But as the other poster mentioned, the Red Belt of Battle is also excellent.

As for additional hit, the two-piece bonus on Burning Rage - Item Set - World of Warcraft is an easy way to get it from pieces that might already be an upgrade. I also get some of mine from cheesy blues like Chestplate of A'dal - Item - World of Warcraft and Overseer's Signet - Item - World of Warcraft. Also don't forget to hit the enchants - the extra AP (and some hit on helm) from helm, wrist, and gloves help bump it up quite a bit.
