Divine Sacrifice/Guardian Changes

Now, I know these are talents, however, seeing that they're only released on PTR, I feel that it's safe to assume that this is more theorycrafting than anything else.

Taken from MMO-Champion:

Divine Guardian: This talent no longer increases the amount of damage transferred to the paladin from Divine Sacrifice. Instead it causes all raid and party members to take 10/20% reduced damage while Divine Sacrifice is active.

Divine Sacrifice: Redesigned. The effect of Divine Sacrifice is now party-only and the maximum damage which can be transferred is now limited to 40% of the paladin’s health multiplied by the number of party members. In addition, the damage transferred to the paladin is now reduced by 50% before being applied to the paladin. Finally, the bug which allowed Divine Sacrifice to sometimes persist despite reaching its maximum damage has been fixed. Divine Sacrifice will now cancel as soon as its maximum damage value is exceeded in all cases.

So, with this, Paladins effectively give other tanks another CD for them. Using Divine Sacrifice by itself will transfer 30% of the tankadin's party's damage to him/her and with Divine Guardian, an additional 20% reduced damage for 10 secs to all raid and party members which brings a total of 50% reduced damage to the tankadin's party (that is, if Divine Guardian is additive and not multiplicative, which seems to be the case).

If this is the case, then this talent is going to be pretty bad ass and I wouldn't be surprised if other specced paladins go into Divine Guardian and Sacrifice for more tank protection.

This appears that it will be one of the "must have" talents for tankadins (or paladins in general for those top end guilds) in the near future because of its utility uses.

It pretty much already does all of that. The changes just let us use it without Divine Shield.

Well, and there is the problem that a Retridin or Holydin would have to spec 17 into Prot instead of 11 to get it. This is tricky because this means they cannot get crucial talents from other offspec trees (Retri would at least drop to 3/5 Seals of the Pure, Holy loses 5% crit). So I would suspect this means DS/DG is now a Protection thing, while currently it's mostly a Retribution talent.

Honestly as good as it is, it is worth those tradeoffs for ret and even for holy. Crit is less important since Illumination was nerfed (it's still a good thing, just not as much now), and Ret can lose points in SotP for that and that is a decent trade, especially for some progression fights. I know people get all cringie when they lose DPS for other things, but that is part of raiding. Dropping points won't negate your DPS down to unacceptable levels, nor will it negate healing. My OCD probably would get in the way of the decision some though
