I was at 532 defense for the last 4 months until I got the Sigil of Deflection and changed some gear out to use it.

I had ZERO problems keeping it up, single target or AOE, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. 100% proc, hit or miss, evade, dodge, parry computer error, whatever :P
