| | | Classic and BC raids at lvl 80
My guild is only interested in Algalon/Heroic ToC right now, and as much as I love WotLK raids, I'm tired of doing them over and over every week.
I've been considering getting together some Classic and BC raids, but I've never led any of those raids and never really paid much attention to the raid composition needed for each one. Plus, it's been a while and they're obviously substantially easier now with all the nerfs and the fact that we're level 80.
So, assuming that the raid is a pug comprised of all 80s (and since I'm on Misha.... I'm guessing most people won't be extremely geared), does anyone have an insight on what the raid comps should be? I've been looking, but I can't really find any information on this. Raids I'm wondering about:
Molten Core
AQ 20
AQ 40
Kara
Gruul's Lair
Magtheridon's Lair
SSC
Mt Hyjal
BT
Sunwell
Tempest Keep
Thanks!

Anything lvl 60 outside of gimmick fights (such as Twin Emps in AQ40) you will be fine with a tank, a healer, and some dps.
Not so sure on lvl 70 raids, however.

MC can be two manned. Will take a hell of a long time, but it can be done. Healer and tank necessary, bring DPS to make it faster.
AQ 20/40 can be mostly done with 4 people, tho it gets painful at parts.
Kara can be two manned, tank and healer.
Gruul's Lair still needs multiple tanks, including ranged tanks. We did it with 5 people but it took about 6 minutes to down the first lot. You want DPS for gruul so the buff stacks dont get too big (Grow)
Mag's lair can be done with 3 people, one to tank mag/the adds, a healer and one to dps down each add.
SSC, Hyjal, Bt, Sunwell and TK all want more than 8 people.
It helps to have multiple tanks. Don't forget that while they may not seem to hit for a lot some abilities can really hurt, not to mention heaps of adds on a single tank, and or boss abilities.

Thanks guys for the info. I've done a few of these raids with 2-5 people, but it take's quite a bit of time (and because of the general low quality of most playes on Misha, I'm limited to my guild members who aren't particularly interested at the moment).
I'm more interested in taking the maximum amount of people allowed to each raid (25 to SSC, 40 to AQ, etc) or as many as I can stand to pug. I'm doing this for grinding rep and want each raid to be relatively quick and easy.
How many tanks and healers do each raid need? I know BT should have a mage for the council, but do any of the other raids need a certain class?

Generally go with 2 or more tanks, makes it easier. You want a healer on each tank minimum, any more is a bonus.
For BT you don't need a mage for council, not at 80. I don't think you have to worry about class specific fights now...
Tho you still do have to follow some strats, as some fights done wrong will wipe you.

Generally the more the merrier, someone on my server runs weekly AQ40 pugs with 25-35 people (some <lvl 80) and the more dps generally speaking the more boss abilities you won't see and therefore won't have to plan for. You need frost (I think) damage for the slime-monster in AQ40, I would still take a mage for Council in BT, but largely because I've never known a pug to get passed without one. BT ideally needs 10+ players, just to make it not too painful and at least two tanks who know the fights - dps will change to fire elementals on Illidan for example without much prompting, but you still need two tanks for who spawning adds is not a complete surprise! Twin Emps is the only fight in AQ40 that usually gives pugs difficulty!
I pugged BT to finish my rep grind and the success varied a lot and I would say that it was largely dependent on number of <lvl 80s. Getting passed Akama without half of the raid locked out of the room due to someone talking to him too early can be difficult Next major difficulty I would say is Council - still need interupters and tanks; Illidan can be nuked quickly thereby limiting abilities used.
As far as healer numbers go, just make it balanced around the number of people going.

If you're planning on pugging full raids(or close to it) for the vanilla stuff, you can basically brute force through all of it, with the exception of Twin Emps. I've 2 manned MC(its takes a while, but i was farming rep stuff to turn in for Mithril Brotherhood so that way i could get it all myself), i've 2 manned most of AQ20 (think we had a 3rd person for the last boss), and AQ40 i've done 4 people up to twin emps. So one tank and one healer is good for anything before AQ40.
Random thoughts
MC-Nothing really special or gimmicky(core hound packs need to die as a group)
BWL-Take a rogue to make the suppression room not last forever. Make sure people are dispeling/decursing on Chromaggus(though if you take a full group you should have enough DPS it won't really matter) Onxyia scale cloak is still good for MT to have.
AQ20-Kite the first boss(makes sand dune then explodes it and it reduces your chance to hit by something stupid like 50%).
AQ40-First boss will randomly mind control people and GREATLY increases their damage, so CC is good for that. The slime boss that requires frost damage is optional so you can skip him if you don't have it. Twin Emps is what stops most pugs do a bit of research on that fight before you go in and have a plan.
