| | | Druid Tanker needing advice
I have been all over looking to see what to do with my bear after patch. I have respec'd 2x and heard my gear was nerfed. (Clefthoof). I was wondering where some good upgrades were located. This is my set up... The World of Warcraft Armory
Please take a look and see what you think, any advice is apreciated. I'm new to tanking but love it so far. I have tanked in other games so I have the fundamentals down. Also list good gems, enchs. Thank you for your time.

pvp gear of any season, blizzard screwed up and did not remove the armor.
other than that i have no idea i have not looked into druid itemization in a while.
1 agi>1 dodge rating so get rid of those dodge rating gems.

You also don't need defense any more, so you can regem those, unless you really want those gem bonuses. Also any sort of items that give armor as well are still great. Like the badge of tenacity. You can farm for the drop or buy it off the AH.

is what im currently wearing.
You could probably swap out those greens for faction rep pvp items. With the recent kara nerf you could probably sneak in with a group and grab some purples(just remember that druid tanking gear and rogue dps gear is frighteningly close in terms of stats now).
In terms of raw damage mitigation S2 is definately the way to go but i have no trouble tanking in TK/SSC/ZA/Kara with my gear and im willing to go out on a limb and say i could probably tank a bit of BT/MH with my current gear.
In terms of trinkets and rings I would aim for a badge of tenacity if possible and then possibly some sort of stam or passive dodge trinket(moroes/commendation/darkmoon cards).
I would start trying to tank the harder lvl 70 nonheroics and if you feel that youre not struggling too much id switch over to the easier heroics like ramps/mech/sp to grab the tree menders belt and thoriumweave cloak and enough badges for your idol of terror (20 i think).
You can grab the rep ring from kara after you do the quests and like half a run. Delicate eternium rings are great for tanking and pretty cheap on the AH.
I would replace most of your gems with +12 stam gems until you get badge gear or t5/6 or equivalent and then start gemming 5 agi 6 stam Heroic Gems or 6 agi 8 Stam Epic gems.(Shifting Prefix)
For replacing your weapon you get a staff from heroic UB off of Ghaz'an that will last you until you grind out Exalted with CE for your Earthwarden.

Well the gear listed in armory might not be my tank set. I carry around 2 sets of armor at all times, 1 tank set, 1 dps set. I will try to get all my tank set listed.
P.S. Why is def no longer needed. I know resil was taken out, wasn't aware of def. Dodge is a definate factor still, right?

Dodge is a definate factor still, right? | Driuids get a passive -6% crit from talents so you no longer need Def/Resil for uncrittable. So the points are mostly wasted as you get a minimal amount of dodge per point of defense as a druid. Youre better off finding items with Agility or dodge rating.

I as told even after the patch that druids still require 435 defense to tank kara+. Any objection and if so, can you explain?

You still don't need it. Sure defense can give you a little bit of dodge but it won't make you any more uncritable.

you NEVER EVER needed 435, pre 3.0 you needed 415
mobs have a 5% chance to crit + .2% for every level above you they are
bosses are 3 levels above thus have a 5.6% chance to crit
SOTF gives -6% chance to be crit, hence, crit immune via talents

I was initially going to complain how my guilds main druid tank will not listen to me on the no defense needed thing. However I am going to switch gears and I have a fe questions about gear. Pre cursors I am currently playing a 40 druid but I do have a 70 toon running ZA, Gruls, Mags, and Kara weekly, so I do have a firm grasp on the fundementals of the game. That said I have never played a tanking class. I have spent the last 3 weeks reading posts and forums about gear I will be in outlands in 2 weeks and I plan on being a Maintank for my guild. Here is the gear I have been looking at getting: Sylin Purple HatNecklace of the DeepShoulders of AssasinationHeavy Clefthoof VestThoriumweave CloakUmberhowl's CollarHeavy Clefthoof LeggingsVerdant GlovesHeavy Clefthoof BootsIron Band of the UnbreakableElementium Band of the SentryAdamantite FigurineBadge of TenacityDreamer's DragonstaffManimal's CinchIdol of the Wild
These pieces should give me around 24k armor, 14k HP I am still working on the dodge calculation. Are there any suggestions for changes I should think about making.

| | | Druid tank gear
Emmerald.net has good info for druid tanks on gear choices, sources, enchants, and gemming. I found this forum (tankspot) because Darksend wrote an excellent guide, and it was quoted on Emmerald's forum.
As for the 24k ac, good luck with that. Those items with green armor were severely nerfed in the most recent patch, and you will have difficulty reaching the numbers available prior to the patch. Your item choices look good, though, I might look more at some of the "____ of the Bear" and "____ of the Bandit" and the "____ of the Monkey" leather pieces now, as druids can become uncrittable through talents alone, and do not NEED defense anymore.

Do heroics-Get badge gear. its as simple as that. try to get the Chest off Mag and the pants off gruul. also the leather working belt can be made for you if you farm/buy the mats for it.
head= badge or Prince in kara
neck= badge or maiden in kara
shoulder= pvp or high king in gruuls
chest= badge, mags, pvp
cape= badge or Illhoof kara
Wrist= Badge
Weapon= Egg Salted w/ Cenarion or illhoof in kara
idol= badge
gloves= Curator, pvp, badge
Pants= gruul, badge
boots=heroic UB, leatherworking (bind on craft)
rings= badge, Viloet Path (kara) rep
trinkets=Heroic Mgt, Moroes in kara, Madness deck(Lunacy cards)
***these are the best and fastest to get items if you are getting out of blues into epics.

I've been at a lost about what to do with feral druid after reading several forums its seems now def rating is non important and gemming with dodge not always the greateast since agility helps our dodge . So if i got this right Stam , agil and strenght should b the key for feral tanks ? Any sugestion would b apreciated

im not the most researched in the game im sure but try to focus on getting 40% dodge, about a 27-28k unbuffed. I also try to keep my expertise at around 6% which is pretty easy nowadays since is on all our gear and over 150 hit rating which you can easily accomplish from the epic pants from gundrak, gloves from pinnacle, boots from rep vendor. With those kinda stats youll be getting hit like a kitten and doing tons of dps, im usually around 1.6-1.7k depending if i got those sweet new rogue buffs. Mostly just look for the new rogue gear with lots of agi and stam. gem for agi or agi stam if your trying to get set bonuses. You dont need any def rating anymore if you have the 6% crit reduction rating talent but if you see a nice piece with it on, dont turn it down. I do also have a few pieces with strength, ex-new leatherworking cape, but thats because all the other stats on it are so hot!!
