OT duty and dual spec

I just started doing Naxx10 as an OT (although I have been in there as MT once but ppl left after 3 wipes on Maexxna) and my quesions is fairly simple. Since the arrival of dual specs, do you who do naxx (and some other raids) as OT use your DPS spec if you have one on trash groups and then switch to tank spec once it is needed or is the risk of not beeing able to switch in time too great? In a 10 man switching from doing 1.5k to 3k when only one tank is needed to me feels like an advantage but I have yet to try this.

Just done spider wing so far btw but this is more of a general question even though I realise the answer may differ greatly depening on trash groups.

I'm not a DK, but I have played with several DK tanks.

Usually they use their tanking specc and gear on trash groups and bosses that spawns some mobs, but on bosses like Loatheb, Sapphiron etc., they use their DPS specc and gear.

I suppose it depends on your MT and healers. If the MT is sufficiently geared, and your healers as well, then he should have no problem solo tanking trash, as well as several of the bosses. Obviously some of the bosses REQUIRE 2 tanks(Thaddius), where as on others, you serve no purpose as an OT(Loatheb). Several bosses in Naxx10 can be tanked by one tank, provided he is on his toes. So running a dps spec as your second spec will indeed speed up the run. Now if your MT is just starting to gear and still squishy or somewhat new, then you may want to stay in your tank spec/gear, to prevent possible wipes by making it easier on everyone.

It really depends on how good your group is and if there's a strong possibility the MT will die. On a fight like Saaph you need to remember she's untauntable, so unless you are staying a close #2 on threat there's little point to having two tanks. If you are learning the content and te group is a little undergeared, then yeah having a backup tank can be a wipe-saver, the advantage of a DK is that we can do decent dps in tank gear+spec simply by switching to Blood Presence.

I'd say stay in tank gear until you face a boss that don't need an OT (Loatheb or Heigan for example) where you can switch to dps. The small difference you will make in dps gear on trash just isn't worth it in my experience. Unless your group is really low on dps, but then you have other problems.
