Sadly most dps´s are qvick too just put all the blame on the tanks or the healers especially on Malygos where they actually have another job than just hit the boss, and therefore I simply refuse too tank Maly unless i know that the dps will do there part in the fight

yes defo dps need to be on ball on this fight...and DK in group will be of much help to pull sparks and stack them when possible so dps can do max dmg... and that's how is my guild doing it every time - no problem in p1 and p2(except when ppl are not looking how small is shield and that all others are running under other shield - apparently looking what is going on around you and hitting buttons at same time is hard for some ppl ) but as soon as we start p3 its wipe after 10-20 sec . No mater how much you tell ppl to watch videos, read tactics, there is no guarantee that they will do it...
i think that i want to say here is that sometimes you just need to be in right group with "right" ppl and you will eventually do it...

Just a fun note:
After two wipes in phase 3 with my guild (10-man run) we decided to all heal at phase 3, so we got the hang of healing while on the drakes. Turned up that 2 ppl began to dot Maly, and that we eventually killed him that way....
We had about 3 minutes to go when phase 3 started, so it´s very doable

About the sparks, tactics and and everything: Maly is not easy the first attempts, but with a good grp, focused ppl, in the end, it shouldn´t matter! Always give at least 2 dps responsability for the sparks, and try to stack sparks in middle to get extra buff. The tank kite Maly around, away from incoming sparks (obv).

Well, gl everyone!

This thread finally brought me out of lurking because I saw something similiar yesterday.

My main is a disc priest but while my guild is in hibernation I'm gearing my def warrior. So much for introduction.

My roomie(bad ass fury warrior) is currently helping a fledgling guild with a relatively green prot pally tank. Usually they do progression in Ulduar 10 but yesterday they where a few members short so they decided to pug Malygos. They were also lacking a healer so I decided to help out.

I NEVER expected to down Malygos with a pug and nobody should.

We were running with 2 healers. Myself(bubbly disc priest) and a tree(partially in blues). Healing was never an issue. That tree was amazing and I've been healing in raids since before BWL was even announced.

What followed was a 3 hr wipe fest.

We had
  • the odd tank error(trying to move the dragon so dps could stand in an awkwardly placed spark) - no biggie
  • half the raid didn't know the strat
  • a couple of 1.3k dps "DPS"ers - this is a biggie in an DPS race
  • corpses during phase two - this is a biggie in an DPS race
The tank was understandably heartbroken. but since his main goal was tho recruit talent for his raid I told him he did brilliantly.

As you can imagine the worst players were the first to leave. Those who stayed until the bitter end were exactly those who didn't need any loot. We nearly killed him(well, I say nearly, he still had 1.000.000 life) with 8 players.

Pugged DPS is dumb until proven otherwise. They fully expect to be carried thru the fights by healers and tanks. The problem is this works for 25s in the iLvl213 content except Malygos. Malygos won't be a loot pinata, ever.

If you want to test your new recruits, take them to Maly 10 and be amazed. You will see fail even in people who are fully decked in Ulduar25 Epix.
