The Pair of bosses before the last boss in AQ40..

ya'know, the ones that heal each other if they get too close, are immune to either magic or melee damage,
switch places with each other, and each have 2 million hp.

Pain in the arse.

40 man days ( I only cleared through spider wing in naxx)
I would say C'thun... Whether it was actually hard or just required a lot of coordination from all 40 of your raid members is tough to say... But i guess thats part of what made learning it and downing it that much more enjoyable.

25 Man Days
For us it was definitely Lady Vashj. The mayhem that goes on up top just makes people lose their minds and do things like run towards the war of the world tentacle dudes to end it all. And root yourself foot ball was pretty win too.

10 Man
I guess prize goes to Malygos for UI boss... It's so painfully easy now in retrospect I just don't understand how I ever thought it difficult.

C'Thun

I'd say the one that put the most strain on the guild I was in at the time though was Vaelastrasz the Corrupt (2nd boss in BWL). We were so close to downing him from the get go, but it took another two weeks and some set backs to get him down the first time. To put it in perspective that's walking into BWL 3 nights a week and just wiping -> recovering -> attempting for two weeks lol.
No trash to re-clear. We really weeded out the people who didn't enjoy raiding for the sake of raiding in those two weeks.

Jin'do the Hexxer was kind of a PITA too. They changed things on him from time to time that kind of threw a wrench in our strategies for him.

TBC... Vashj, Kael, Azgalor, Archimonde

WotLK... Malygos 25

fought all bosses in tbc & wrath - sarth3d was by far the hardest boss i've ever fought... and now with a bit of practice (2 nights worth) he's a joke. On a personal, individual performace level, this video game is easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Kaelthas Sunstrider most definately.. Sarth3d Has nothing on it.. The hardest part of sarth 3d is dodging void zones and firewalls.. very little raid coordination involved. I miss 5 phase fights with 20 minute dialogue speeches..

Lucifron, the first boss in MC. Back in those days, it was the first time I (and many of my guildmates) started any kind of raiding situation in any game whatsoever. We thought we were awesome just making it to max Level 60.

Coordinating 40 raid newbies to do something as simple as tank 2 adds and a Boss, focus fire on two different adds while keeping them distanced, and staying away from Lucifron's Aura, and staying away from that cave opening on the left because of those imps...All while keeping the raid alive took countless COUNTLESS nights of pure wiping.

Nobody in epic equipment, heck...nobody even knowing the impact of equipment in general, nobody seriously studying what their classes could or could not do, me just figuring out what threat or mitigation or avoidance was in a tanking sense. The wakeup call for 40 people saying "Welcome to Raiding!"

To this day, nothing was and will ever be as difficult to me in Wow as Lucifron in those days.

Original - We only got to ZG before BC dropped so I'm not sure, we were such a small unorganized guild back then.

BC - Vashj

WotLK - Sarth +3D (Our only content not cleared) / Malygos 25 comes in a close second though, like others it seems so easy now. But at the time it sure was daunting. Probably had something to do with the Arcane Breath bug.

Easy answer for me. Pre-nerf magmadar pre nerf...I mean way back when tier 2 still dropped randomly in there.

This was insanely hard for a couple of reasons:

1) No one at the game on any server had any idea what they were doing. I mean stance dancing for your tank to break the fear was still considered a novel idea.
2) He did a ton of damage to everyone before the nerfs. Would be spitting fire everywhere and fear and you loose half the raid 15 seconds in.
3) Tremor totem was useless.

My guild spend longer on this boss than I have any other place in this game by a large margin. Starting our first week in MC we spent our entire 5 hour raid wiping on him 5 days a week for almost a month until we got enough tranq shots and people started to get the hang of it. Vashj/Kael are the only other bosses that have ever let the feeling I had when learning magmadar begin to resurface but even those were not as bad.

Original: Twin Emporors... omg... i'm still afraid of AQ cuz of that fight.
BC: Kind of embarassing but lol Mag... clicking cubes was not one of our fortés.
WotLK: Current WotLK hardest encounter we had was Grobbulus. Took us forever to get him under farm status.

Download High Resolution

This is the Eredar Twins killing Fire First without any sort of "ledge strategy"

Was easily the most difficult fight.
