I never bothered to learn the name of the boss but the one guy in Molten Core who has the four priests to back him up. Doing that in a five man raid was REALLY hard since we were just winging it.

Me and 4 (or maybe it was 5 and a 6man raid, either way..) 80's wiped twice on it before we got it down and managed to kill the healers fast enough before focusing on boss.

Other than that it was cake lol.

I've only got into raiding since wotlk, makes me feel sad since I missed all the 40 mans :<

Hardest boss I hit was Kel'thuzad at 4:30 AM with 19 people in a 25 man raid. It usually went fine till 30%. I had the adds on the right side of the room and KT would MC our off tank on the left side, so I'd run across and nab up those mobs. When the MC finally broke off him, he was soo focused on those mobs he failed to notice MT and out main heals was friggen MC'ed. this infact did happen several times.

naw tbh all the bosses I've encountered as a tank in Lich king, the hardest is the bosses in H-VH, Xevozz and the big void walker piss me off every time. I got my bolstered leg plates from there so I'm never going back lol.

Original: Vael with folks in tier 1 at best, or Pre-nerf Patchwerk. Huhuran before the blue crafted NR gear was a PiTA too, but not undoable. We never killed C'Thun at 60, but I think that was mostly for a lack of trying, as the attempts we did do went quite well.

TBC: I stopped playing a few days after hitting 70 (fought the first boss in Gruul's and a few in Kara, none of which were hard).

WoTLK: I just hit 80 last week after reactivating recently, and have so far done 10/25 Naxx, 10/25 VoA, 10/25 Sarth (0-drake pugs), 10/25 Maly, most of which I tanked in shit gear, and tagged along for a few bosses in 25 Ulduar. Nothing strikes me as particularly challenging so far. ;-/

If I had to pick, I guess it would be Maly, only because there were people there (like me) who had never done it before.

Vanilla: had only cleared spider wing in naxx 40, but i would guess Kel Thusad 40 man would be the hardest encounter in the game. (still counting today).

but bosses that I have tried:
Vanilla:C'Thun as a shammy healer
TBC: didnt play then, did not like TBC;
WOTLK:Malygos (early wotlk)

Vanilla: Tanking Lord Drakkisath in Upper Black Rock Spire as a Paladin just after the 2.0 (Hello Avenger's Shield) patch. I was basically learning how to tank.

tBC: Offtanking Gruul as a Paladin prior to 2.2, and then Main Tanking Magtheridon himself. Paladins didn't have any kind of activated cooldown at the time. I still don't know how my healers got me through the cave in. Flame of Azzinoth was the hardest tanking I'd do in tBC and we got him the night after 3.0.

Wrath: Firefighter. Still haven't beaten this.
