I also am one of those nonvanilla raiders...my answer though should give credit to vanilla raiders.
On my shammy I have cleared all LK content and on my hunter saw alot of BC content as he was my main. I think Malygos 10 is harder than 25 because of the chance to get quick 2 shot on phase 2.However the hardest figth for me to stomach is KT 25 man. I cannot imagin this fight back in the 40 man days. Even when we "do it right" and kill him and everything goes "smooth" it seems like a complete cluster. melee heavy groups having 3-4 people getting blocked people flipping cause a ranged dps keeps moving, a rogue not getting CC'ed fast enough after a MC and poisoning everyone near him, the MT getting blocked and kt going off on his own. In 40 man as heal lead and alot of the time raid assist lead i think i would have stressed out and quit playing haha. | I totally know what you are talking about. I'm lead engineer of our Borean Tundra questers and its really difficult at times. I can't even imagine being assistant raid lead. How did you ever get up to that level? You must be a high up in your guild. I remember trying to get everyone to coordinate and share gatherer nodes... talk about stress!!

Kel'thas Sunstrider, 2 weeks before the 3.0 patch - My guild spent 2 hours getting to him and 5 hours trying to kill him. We only actually got to him on the last 2 attempts.

All i was saying is I couldnt imagine organizing 40 people to heal certain assignments as they were thrown all over that room.

Lady Vashj, I loved learning and then killing her about 10more times. The only other interesting one was RoS, flames of azzinoth are also memorable. Archimonde was the most taxing just because it was about 9mins of nailing every stance dance and paying maximum attention as a tank.

the MT getting blocked and kt going off on his own. | If the MT gets blocked it means someone was to close to him.
If kt goes off on his own it means your MT isn't building threat up fast enough when his threat resets.
Hardest encounter for me would be sar3d, granted tanking 2 mobs at once + avoid lava waves and void zones isn't that hard.. still looking for a challenge.

back on topic;
vanilla; C'thun
BC; pre-nerf M'uru
wrath; Frogger/Pipeboss in naxx >.>

Vael: I remember wiping on this dude for 5 hours one day...That was what 3 years ago, and we still talk about it.
Huhu: We tried this biotch while still gathering our NR gears so yeah it was pretty damn hard. Killed her with maybe 2 people up and of course everyone went wild. Probably one of my favorite kills ever...specially since I was part of the "wall".
It's too bad...it will never be as Hardcore as wiping for 4 hours a night with 39 of your buddies laughing in vent. I don't really like Vanilla unless it's WoW...

Razorgore is probably the encounter I've spent the most time wiping on. And I've done most encounters.

My hardest was soloing that Murloc chieftain, along Darkshore...around lvl 20-something. I still have nightmares, in which I hear the throaty growl of anger, just before I die, and have to spend for-ev-er getting back to my body, only to wait on others, who came in groups, just to get past the guy ( I was very antisocial, up to lvl 65 ).
Seriously? Raiding? Ok, I haven't done all that much raiding, but the big Blue dragon, that's one of, I believe four, random outdoor encounters, was pretty tough, since the raid assembled very quickly, and was very chaotic (also my first).
Lately, I've had more trouble with jousting, in Icecrown, than any Boss...
Of course, I've only been as far as the Spider quarter...

Majordomo Executus. Thats some insane tactics to get your head around. We need to kill one type add then one of the healers then another healer, then the other type off adds they another of them add then the sheeps will break automatically, then you kill another healer... I have no idea of the tactics these days. I'm just glad I had a decent raid leader on teamspeak telling me what to do. Remember those days before we had raid marks
Oh and that boss in Hyjal that summons untauntable infernal adds. They tend to run right through the raid towards the healers at the back hurting everyone with their fire aura. I only did it once, after Hyjal was nerfed but it was frantic stuff as an offtank.

Trying to level in STV. Every mob was a boss because their was a level 60 horde hiding in the bushes.
TBC = pvp boss in H MGT. 1 boss with 5 mini-bosse adds, no arggo table, on of them has Mortal strike ablity. This fight was unique to wow as the boss and the adds did not have a have an aggro table, so basically is was a 5v5 arena match. I thought it really exposed players who who couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time.
For a raid I say Kael.
Wotlk= Sarth 3D non zerg

I have so much hate for Twin Emps. I will always and eternally give them my hatred forever.
As for BC. I actually hated the Illidari council most of all. No matter what , SOMEONE would kill us =/

Naxx40 was still wicked hard doing it at level 70. I shudder to think of the poor souls who did it at level 60... nobody on my old server ever downed Four Horsemen, Sapphiron or Kel'Thuzad until after BC came out and we were doing legacy raids.
Actual BC Content: PRINCE MALCHEZZAR. SCREW HIM and his 'luck of the draw' meteor placement. Moroes and Aran were also huge pains... ugggh, Aran. Some idiot would always go and move during Flame Wreath, or be too slow to get out of the Arcane Explosion, or get caught in that Blizzard. (In the last case, that idiot was often me and my then-healadin self.) I never did anything higher than Gruul, alas, until 3.0 hit. Even then, Kael'thas was still pretty difficult and I'm a little ticked that I never did get to down him. Ditto Hyjal.
BC 5-Mans: Magister's Terrace, period. Especially that dumbtarded priestess and her buddies, as someone mentioned. Kael'Thas was no picnic, either... but then I WAS trying to run through this place as a Holy Paladin. AUUUUGH.
WotLK: Can't comment, really, as I haven't raided regularly since BC. I pretty much hate the entirety of Azjol-Nerub and Old Kingdom, though. And Skadi. DEATH TO SKADI. GRR.
