We were trying this last night. We had 2 paladins gathering all scarabs and kiting them around frost traps and earthbind totems. We gathered adds from 3 kite phases and still had only 37 adds o_O And achievement says you need 40.

We didn't kill any scarabs early on, at least none we noticed. And no we didn't use that wandering scarabs that are there before you pull the boss (as they have another name, and I doubt they count (confirm anyone ?)).

Is it possible to only get 37 scarabs or did we actually loose some early on? Anyone had this bug for them ?

You have to go through 4 kite phases. Well, you can pop them all in the middle of the 4th kite phase. You did the right thing though.
