Is my setup going to hamper me in the future (when I start raiding)?

My current setup:

Movement: ALL with mouse. I have a tilting scrollwheel, with tilt left and tilt right bound to strafing. A button below the scrollwheel moves backwards (can't really move backwards while strafing, but can definitely look with right mouse button while backing up or strafing)
Moving forward with a side button on the mouse

This leaves q-r (+ S-t), a-g, z-v (+ S-b), 1-5, and some side keys (I have a Logitech G-15) for keybinds.
I have my sidekeys bound to things like set focus, target focus, assist target, all the raid targetting icons, target last hostile, follow target

I find I only generally need shift and alt modifiers for my keys. I only use alt with some of the farther keys, and then rarely, as I have enough room with just shift most of the time. I very occasionally use ctrl for various things. (E.g., on my DK, holding ctrl while using my 1 min cooldown ability will pop rune tap first)

My general mouse grip is to have my middle finger on the right mouse button, and my index switching between the scrollwheel (where it usually sits for strafing), and sliding over to the left mouse button for clicking when needed.

My question is: Is such a setup going to hinder me when I start raiding?
I can PvP in it with reasonable efficiency, but don't have AS fine movement control as with a ASDW setup. My problem with ASDW is that, aside from using up valuable keyboard space, its worse on my wrists (I type most of the day at my job, so saving my wrists is good), and its hard to use abilities while moving without contorting my hand (also bad on my hand/wrist).

Does anyone have experience with a setup like this? Does having all that mousy movement interfere with click targeting? Is it a problem that I can't backpedal and strafe at the same time effectively?

For the most part I've just been solo leveling, and haven't really gotten into situations where tactical movement is really needed... I've PvPd some on BGs, and that seems to work fine so far... just curious whether I'm digging myself into a hole getting used to this layout.

Would be a pain in the ass for trying to move into position while targeting mobs.

You could look at getting a gamepad?

I'm not sure that would be too much of an issue, any more so than with ASDW, since they also have to release the right mouse button to target.
I can tab and shift-tab while moving... if I need to target while moving forward and strafing that is fine too (as I can do that without clicking the right mouse button).

I would have problems backing up and targeting anything though.

Hmm... since most of my problems are due to where my backup key is, perhaps I should look into a mouse that has a key on the right side I can hit with my ring finger/pinky to backup...

No, not really.

I've played WoW this way since about 2005. As with anything, it's a matter of getting used to it. You learn pretty quickly that jumping while moving is a great way to target stuff (and as a side effect, your mouse precision gets a lot better.)

I keep strafe bound to side buttons on the left side mouse, since it's easy to hit that button behind the mousewheel to back up and then thumb and hold a sidebutton to strafe while backing up.

Definitely one of the most unique ways I have heard of using your mouse for the game; I would think that if you are used to it, then it would be more than adequate. The only instance I can think of where it would be an issue is a fight like Twin Jomungars, how do you backpedal in a circle while tanking the mobile one? I do all my movement on the keyboard and have like eighteen abilities bound to my mouse, so a little different.

So I fiddled around a bit... if I take my thumb off my forward button (I only have 1 side button, so no thump strafing for me), I can get it up to the backpedal button, and thus backpedal while strafing. Its not a very quick switch though, as my entire hand position has to change. If I knew it was coming though, I could get ready. Takes a little under half a second to get back to forward moving position.
