Macro conditions. Necessary?

There are a few macros I have questions about.

#showtooltip Disarm
/cast [stance:2] Disarm; [stance:1/3] Defensive Stance

This macro will switch to defensive stance if you're not there, and then disarm. If you are already in defensive stance. It will just disarm.

Why wouldn't a simple

#showtooltip Disarm
/cast Defensive Stance
/cast Disarm

work just as well? Is there something im missing? Does the above macro execute quicker?

Same with macros like this spell reflect macro.

#showtooltip Spell Reflection
/cast [stance:1/2,equipped:Shields] Spell Reflection; [stance:3] Defensive Stance
/stopmacro [equipped: Shields]
/stopcasting
/equip YOUR 1H
/equip YOUR SHIELD

I use this ( can't log on but if i remember correctly its this)

#showtooltip Spell Reflection
/cast Defensive Stance
/equip YOUR 1H
/equip YOUR SHIELD
/cast Spell Reflection

Does all the fancy shmancy syntax serve a purpose?

Thanks.

I remember in the past there was a thingamajabber about stances and macros. Something about mistakingly losing rage from switching from def stance to def stance. I never knew if they fixed it, but odds are that's a reminiscent from those days.
