| | | Identifying my target...
Anyone know of an add on that can help me identify having selected the correct target (like lighting it up a little or something?). And yes, I got myself and my target of target quite visible in the (lower) middle part of the screen. I'm more thinking along the lines of extra highlighting the name plate or something...
Why? Despite running aloft (perhaps I forgot to set something up there?) I seem to be losing oversight when fighting multiple adds (say more than 5 cluttered on my character)

I don't fully understand what you are looking for. Do you mean like a brighter or more vivid way of understanding which mob you are targeting out of a group of them?
If so, then you could just change the color of your target in Aloft or something. Make it brighter?
If not, then explain more.

Having read your blog I guess you're thinking about Sarth baby adds, I was thinking along the lines of an addon that only showed certain healthbars, so that accidentally clicking on bigger drakes or even Sarth would be less of a problem, but anything that makes knowing which one you have targetted and clearing up screen would be appreciated by me too |

You can have your current target glow a different color and such, but filtering out other nameplates like that is impossible to my knowledge.

I would be allready more than happy with a glow on my current targets nameplate!
I have target and target of target on pitbull, that's all nice and all, but when you are charging round manically monitoring cooldowns and praying for shockwave to come of cooldown. There is no distinction between which of the targets on the playing field I have currently selected.
I would like to see a glow round the nameplate of my target, or even a ufo like beam me up scotty spotlight from above, making it that more obvious to see which mob I have targetted...
If Aloft does support this I'll digg in to it again - I must have overlooked one of the gazillion modules it offers...
Hope that helps, sorry for my messy post... I was quite tired yesterday! (or so it seems )

Aloft allows me to decrease the alpha on the rest of the targets and remain to have 100% on my current target. It helps a teensy bit if I make sure the alpha for the other bars is neigh invisible. That however isn't exactly helping in the overview of where mobs are trying to hide (and sneakily beat up a healer or two).
I am hoping I can find glow option like they have for threat, but I haven't found anything in that menu yet.

I farm S3D in both 25 man and 10 man each weak as the fire elemental/whelp tank, and all I really depend on is my aloft addon to easily figure out which mobs are attacking me, and which mobs aren't.
If you need a highlight effect on whatever you are target, aloft might work for you. It doesn't highlight your target, but instead it darkens every non targeted nameplate on your screen.
Example:
Though to me, this is never a problem during S3D. If I'm tanking a drake and adds at the same time I just set up a macro to select the drake when I need to. Since I have 20 nameplates on my screen at once makes it impossible to find and click the drake without using this macro.
On a side note, whats VERY helpful about using aloft while tanking numerous adds is the 'Nameplate Glow' module. Since it is so crucial to pick adds up as fast as possible, having my nameplate borders glow yellow when the mob is attacking me makes it that much easier to grab mobs who aren't targeting me.
Example of nameplate glow:
Hope this helps

this is really a nice addon, but I am struggling with the configuration... would it be possible for you tu Upload your profile for Aloft, or could you shortly explain how you got the nice glow effect and the (in my opinion) very nice design of the nameplates? would really appreciate it.
(mainly i have problems to get the nameplates to glow...the nameplate glow function doesn't seem to do its work )
thx in advance
greetings

Karnak | Aloft is a very fickled beast. I tried it out and spent countless hours to no avail. I eventually gave up. The configuration is confusing.

These are the settings I use for the yellow glow. I use the "bars" texture. You might have to tweak the size of the nameplate glow if you use a different texture.
I only use a percentage for health to keep it simple. The reason the bars are so small is just to ensure my screen is less cluttered when many adds are on my screen at once.
Thats pretty much all I modified.

You can probably do something with the 'advanced' tags. There's an 'IsTarget' listed in the AloftTags.rtf that might be what you're looking for.

I have followed the instructions provided by echo, for aloft and still cannot get the nameplates to glow when I have aggro... Can anyone, who actually uses it, verify that this mod still works for this?
Ps.. Using version 2.8.1.1151

I use Aloft, and the default settings should add a red glow when a mob is targetting you, and a yellow glow when a mob is targetting you, but you're close losing aggro. Also using version 2.8.1-1151 from wowinterface, the download from curse doesn't seem to work.

the one form curse did not work... I downloaded this one and it works. I also had to enable threat in the blizzard ui located at: Interface -> Display -> Display Aggro warning = Always and the nameplates started glowwing.
