Building A Wrath UI.

Hey guys,

Ive noticed that there seems to be a steady flow now of 3.0/Wrath ready addons available. Seeing as my wow rig got nailed with a nasty virus and I had to wipe the drives and start from scratch, now seems like the best time to build a new UI for Wrath.

So far Im set on using Bartender 4 for my action bars, Im a click player. Aside from that Im open to opinions. Im looking for a smooth minimalistic set up.

I would welcome suggestions in these areas:

-Unit/raid Frames
-Mini Map and Button Managment
-Backrounds/art
-Buffs

I have included a shot of my old UI taken some time ago. I did like Archud 2 with the 3D model of your target and having my rage and health bars near my toon. I had Chinchilla for a map mod and Minimap Button Bag for the button managment. For buffs and de-buffs I used Elk Buff Bars.

I would like to keep all of my UI in the bottom 1/3 of my screen with a backround and possibly vertical partitions to seperate the blocks of stuff. I orginally used eepanels, but it is badly out of date.

If any of you are working on new UI's please include some screen shots. Mabye we can all help eachother and create great UI's.

Thanks!
-Boda

I tend to use...
Unit Frames: Xperl
Bars: Dominos with Autobar as well
Buffs: Rbuffs from RothUI

For unit frames I've enjoyed Roth UI's new orbs but I miss having any in game flexibility (everything is from lua code) and lack of hp information.

I think everything I mentioned can be found at wowinterface.

Whats that quick marker mod you had in the screen shots? I keep meaning to grab one.

Unit Frames: Pitbull are my most recommended currently. I tend to switch around a lot when I find something better than what I'm using, and these are fantastic and highly customizable. I actually just made a video tutorial yesterday on them if you need help getting them set up: Pitbull - Video Tutorial

Raid Frames: These are debatable. I'm still not sold on a single addon for Unit Frames because it seems one of them always falls short in something. Usually they're nitpicks at best. SRaidFrames are probably the most solid though despite the fact they don't offer as many customization options as I like. Grid is just more trouble than it's worth to set up sometimes, but it's very minimalistic which is nice. You could also use Pitbull for your unit frames, and while you'll get complete control over them, they'll take a while to set up.

Backgrounds/Art: Oh man. If EEPanels isn't working, I don't know what to tell you. I know Discord is long extinct. I'd suggest visiting the ledmirage.net forums and seeing if anyone over there knows about using art. I've never been a big fan of using art panels in game much to be honest. The most I would use would be Skinner, and I'd just set a viewport up on the bottom section of my game.

Buffs: Going with ElkBuffBars on this one. I've got video tutorials up for that too on some customization options. I am eager to test out Satrina's however and see if I like them more.

For art use Sunn Art. Easy to use. It is just art though, no customizable panel set ups.

For unit/raid frames I use Pitbull. I use Chinchilla for my minimap for the handy little 'position' mover that lets you move the quest tracker, durability, capture bar, world state, quest timer and achievement tracker anchors. For action bars I use Bartender4 with Button Facade. SunnArt is great for on screen art (even has art packages) and viewport is nice. For buffs I use the standard Pitbull aura system with custom border art.

This is my UI:

Out of combat.

Everything showing with party frames.

Everything showing with raid frames.

I like minimalistic with color, which is where the art comes in. I also like things to look like they belong in Warcraft, which is why I don't like many minimalistic UIs because they use pixel fonts and things look futuristic or spacey. My UI is a neverending endeavor, and I'm still looking for a good damage/healer meter.

If anyone is curious, these are all the addons I'm currently packing: Align, Bartender4, BaudBag, Button Facade, Button Facade: Entropy (Copper is the skin used in my UI), Cartographer, Chatter, Chinchilla, CowTip, DoubleWide, EnhancedColourPicker, GFW_Levelator, MiniChat, naiStats, oGlow, Omen, Pitbull, Quartz, QuestHelper, SharedMedia-Blizzard and SunnArt.

Thanks for the replies.

@ Urrick --The marking mod I used is called Khrom Target Icons or KTI. Im trying out a new one called Raid Mod Marker atm, I have to play with it more tho.

@ Alaeri -- Sorry I dont visit image shack. Wondering If you could put a pic in your post to let me see what ur working with. I wont go to imageshack cause I got slammed with a nasty virus that ate my PC alive. I just got done rebuilding it from scratch.

@ Caulle -- EEpanels, the orginal version though it is way outdated, seems to be preforming fine. Its what Im using now. EEpanels 2 however was getting bug sack errors all over the place.

Ive spent the last few days getting things set up and heres what I have so far. I still need to get a addon for party/raid frames and set up a few raid related things.

This would be my solo/out of raid UI.

There ya go Boda. And it's understandable. I wouldn't visit it either if it gave me that kind of virus. The only reason I used it is because my UI is 1680 x 1050 and Photobuket will resize them.

I like ur UI there AL. Im guessing your running with at least a 20" monitor.

My main problem is I only have a 17" and dont have money for a new one.

So my never ending endevor is to save space.

Alaeri, that is one very sweet UI.

Might try that out, thanks for that.

Glad you like it Pitstarter. It takes up a bit of memory though, which is why I've returned to the default UI with enhancements like Adapt, JustTheArt and SquidMod.

And yes Boda, I run with a 22" widescreen
